The Baependi contact is considered one of the most important and distinguished in the history of ufology in Brazil. This incident took place in the mining town of Baependi, located in the south of the state.
On May 16, 1979, Arlindo Gabriel dos Santos recorded the landing of three unidentified flying objects (probes). In addition, he also witnessed the arrival of a huge manned spacecraft on Earth. This case is considered to be the most impressive face-to-face contact ever recorded in Brazil.
Baependi's case has been studied by several ufologists, including specialists from the Center for Parapsychological Research Varginhense (CEVAPPA) and the Brazilian Society for the Study of Flying Saucers (SBEDV).
According to Arlindo Gabriel dos Santos himself, he went hunting when he saw a cylindrical object landing on the ground.

Arlindo managed to photograph the object before it disappeared. Then two more probes landed nearby. At one point, frightened, Arlindo tried to escape from this place, but in the end he was struck by some kind of lightning bolt from the ship. Then he saw two aliens.
In his contact with the creatures, Arlindo said that the aliens told him that they would not harm anyone and that they were all brothers. The creatures took Arlindo and took him inside the ship, where he received information about an alien civilization.
According to Arlindo, the aliens were very similar to humans. He could move freely around the ship and saw 5 aliens inside the ship.
Arlindo would have stayed on the ship for about two hours. After his release, he said that he experienced severe nausea and dizziness. The camera he used to take pictures of the UFO turned out to be burnt out inside.
He also could not find his hunting bag and was found a month later.
The bag was covered with drawings and inscriptions. A careful analysis of the inscriptions showed the following message: "The advanced space races have the right to lay the foundations of universal brotherhood."
