The oldest forest in which Vlad Tepes himself hunted is located in Romania. For a long time, Dracula's castle was considered the darkest attraction in the country. Nowadays special attention is drawn to the gloomy forest, in which people and livestock disappear without a trace.
The area gained worldwide fame after the First World War, when a shepherd with a flock of more than 200 sheep got lost in the wilds and disappeared. It was a local boy who took the herd along the same trails every day. No bodies were found. Since then, the forest has been named after the poor fellow. Since then, strange things have happened in him every year: someone loses his mind, and someone loses … relatives.
One day, the parents did not keep track, and a 5-year-old girl entered the forest, playing with a butterfly. She was lost. The search was unsuccessful. The child was declared dead and an empty coffin was buried. After 5 years, the girl knocked on her own house, but to the horror and delight of her parents, her appearance did not change at all. The child thought it had only been 10 minutes since she played with the butterfly.
Another case interested the public: a teacher who went crazy after walking for mushrooms. The woman lost her memory and could not remember who she was.
The atmosphere in the forest is gloomy and hostile: bizarrely twisted trees, which creep along the ground, trying to see the sun, are frightening. Fogs are not uncommon. Wandering lights too.
There is a round meadow in the center of the plot. It is a spacious empty area surrounded by bushes and trees, but in the very circle nothing but grass grows. The place was named "Bald Polyana", and many believe that it is here that a portal opens to other worlds, in which people and animals disappear. By the way, the forest is quiet, it is useless to hunt in it. Animals and birds are rare.

Locals rarely go beyond the edge of the forest, but Nicolas Cage, while filming "Ghost Rider 2", set aside time and went for a walk on purpose. I even made a documentary about the trip. During the campaign, he met a strange man, and, laughing, asked him if it was true that the area was cursed. He was silent for a long time and answered with a question: "Have you already seen people loitering here who have no legs?"
Travel agencies in Russia and Europe quickly found their bearings and came up with tours to the mystical Hoya-Bachu. But often, after such walks, people feel sick, they have a terrible headache. Many suffer from hallucinations, auditory and visual. Tourists hear the screams of women and children, groans, grinding. In the pictures taken in the forest, things and objects become noticeable that were not visible without the camera: shadows of people, silhouettes, lights. It was here that one of the world's clearest UFO images was taken.

Scientists, ufologists, mystics and just curious enthusiasts came to understand the causes of the Phenomenon. Biologist Alexander Sift spent several days in the thicket and became the most famous UFO witness in Hoya-Bachu. Glowing balls most often appeared near Lysaya Polyana.
So it is not precisely established why these mass insanities occur in the Transylvanian forest. Hoya-Bachu was named the most paranormal forest on the planet by the BBC channel. It is not recommended to spend a lot of time here, especially to spend the night.
