In the 19th century, Charles Gordon, an English general, declared that the Byzantine emperor Constantine was mistaken with the place of the last refuge of Christ. After studying the sacred texts, he came to the conclusion that the tomb of Jesus was in a garden. But there was no garden around Calvary Constantine. Gordon pointed to the place where he believed the Son of God was crucified. This place is still called "Gordon's Calvary".

In 1980, a crypt was found in Talpiot, which contained ten vessels, the origin of which was attributed to the 1st century. The vessels had the inscriptions: Matthew, Mary, Joseph, Jesus, Mary. Archaeologists did not believe Cameron and stressed that these were not the graves.
