On July 28, 1976, in the small town of Tangshan in northern China, an earthquake of 8.2 magnitude occurred, as a result of which the city was completely destroyed, more than 240 thousand people died, more than 160 thousand people were seriously injured.
The Tangshan earthquake went down in history as one of the largest natural disasters of the 20th century.
Chinese researchers conducted a survey among survivors who had near-death experiences. More than half of them recalled that at the time of death they were not afraid, on the contrary, their souls were good and calm, some even felt joy.

A girl named Liu, who was 23 at the time, suffered damage to her lumbar vertebrae due to the collapsed building and could no longer walk.
Almost half of the respondents felt that their mind or soul was being separated from their body. Some have compared this to the fact that the soul "comes out of the shell."
About a third of the survivors felt like they were walking through a tunnel. Sometimes there was a strange hum, some felt like they were being pulled or squeezed. Someone almost reached the end of the dark tunnel and saw the light.

The researchers received useful information from 81 survivors of the Tangshan earthquake. Of these, 47 people after the near-death experience changed their character, became softer.
This is currently the largest sample in the history of NDE research.
