St. Petersburg is an ancient city with a huge cultural heritage, around which there are a lot of rumors and stories. The Kunstkamera, a museum built by Peter the Great with outlandish exhibits, was supposed to attract ghosts from the very opening. The first visitors were afraid to go to the new museum: it was believed that the tsar had arranged a demonic gathering in it, and the exhibits were cursed by the Antichrist. But the ghost stories were all fantasy. For example, it was said that every night from the Kunstkamera tower, shadows scatter to different parts of the city, and at dawn they return.
However, a little later, the skeleton of one of the most famous giants in the world, Nicholas Bourgeois, appeared in the museum. By order of the king, a mannequin of the same height and size was made and covered with the skin of Bourgeois himself. But in 1917, part of the exhibits disappeared from the museum, including the giant's skull. Well, after the disappearance, eyewitnesses told that they saw Bourgeois, who walked through the museum building in search of his head.
The most haunted area of St. Petersburg is Vasilievsky Island. Here they are found both in apartments and in historical places. For example, there is a legend that immediately after the revolution, 40 priests were buried there alive, who did not renounce their faith. Now eyewitnesses claim that the voices of these very priests can be heard at the cemetery at night.
Also, the ghost can be found in the Brusnitsyn mansion on the Kozhevennaya line. According to legend, there is a mirror commissioned by the merchant Brusnitsyn to decorate the living room in one of the Venetian palazzo. As a result, the purchase of a mirror brought only misfortune: the whole family felt bad after his appearance in the house, and the merchant's granddaughter soon died. The mirror was hidden in the pantry, and then transferred to the Kirov Palace of Culture, but later, by the decision of the KGIOP, it was returned to the mansion. And after a while it disappeared. Now no one knows where the mirror is, but according to rumors, voices can be heard in the house, and some feel the presence of an otherworldly force.

Also one of the most significant places on the mystical map of St. Petersburg is the rotunda on Gorokhovaya Street. In the 19th century, meetings of secret societies with the participation of representatives of the high society were allegedly held here. Throughout its existence, the rotunda has been surrounded by dozens of mystical stories. Her young nephew, a revelry and a gambler, told the poet how one day, after another major loss, the old woman told him the secret of the "three cards", which she learned from the sorcerer Count Saint-Germain. As a result, Natalya Petrovna remained a ghost.
Another of the main ghosts of the city is Tsar Nicholas the First. You can meet him in the Hermitage, a stately figure often appears in the dark corridors of the museum. Visitors and caretakers of the Hermitage have tried more than once to photograph Nicholas, but all the pictures were blurry, so there is still no confirmation.
The ghost of the architect Kokorinov, who built the Academy of Arts, lives in it. According to the legend, Empress Catherine II, while visiting the Academy, stained her dress, to which she expressed her displeasure with the architect. He was so offended by this that he died of experiences that very night. As a result, his spirit is now to the students.
Another ghost of St. Petersburg with a well-known "registration" address is the spirit of Grigory Rasputin. You can meet him at the Pulkovo Observatory. According to legend, the body of Rasputin was reburied there, so at night Rasputin walking around the territory of the observatory can be found.
