This is a fairly well-known hotel in Los Angeles. In addition to its "standard" fame for a hotel, it has earned fame for the fact that strange guests often stay in it. Almost from the very opening of the hotel, murders, suicides, mysterious abductions and other terrible things have been constantly happening here. And the hotel was opened almost a hundred years ago.

The last high-profile case occurred in 2013, when a dead girl from Canada was found here - she was lying in a tank of water. Her name was Eliza Lam. The worst thing about this story is the surviving surveillance footage. They show how a girl randomly presses different buttons in the elevator, hides in a corner, gets out of the elevator several times and comes back in, says some words. There is a suspicion that Eliza was insane shortly before her death. There was an assumption that she had previously used drugs, but experts did not find any remains of any suspicious substances in her body.

This incident was inspired by Ryan Murphy, who conceived of filming the fifth season of American Horror Story. Other seasons of the series also mention incidents that happened in this ill-fated hotel.

And in the 80s, Richard Ramirez, a famous American serial killer, lived in this hotel. He "celebrated" his stay in Los Angeles by killing as many as 13 people. In 1991, Jack Unterweger, a maniac from Austria, also stayed here; in his room, he killed three women.

In the fifties and sixties, this hotel was known as a place of frequent suicides.

Sometimes there are reports that the ghosts of deceased or murdered guests wander around the hotel and near it. Some "eyewitnesses" managed to "photograph" ghosts, but in reality it turned out that they were fakes.

All this did not contribute to the popularity of the hotel, so the management decided to even change its name: until recently, it was called Cecil. However, the renaming cannot be said to have cleansed the hotel's reputation.
