In Japan, they talk about the existence of giant humanoids that inhabit the icy waters of Antarctica. The crews of the ships observing these creatures call them ningen, i.e. people. Most consider this creature from the category of mythical and legendary.

The ningen are reported to be white creatures, ranging in length from 20 to 30 meters. Eyewitnesses describe ningen as a humanoid form with arms, legs, and even five fingers. They are sometimes described as having fins or as a large mermaid, i.e. with a tail instead of legs, with blurred features of the face, eyes and mouth.

Once, several crew members, on the deck, observed what looked like a foreign submarine. However, when they got closer, it became clear that this assumption was not true, and that it was not created by human hands, it was something alive. But the creature quickly disappeared under the water.

Perhaps ningen lives not only in Antarctica, but also in the southern Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Namibia. So far, no conclusive evidence has been presented to support the existence of the ningen. The Japanese government believes it will not release detailed reports of encounters with this creature, and therefore the public has no information on encounters with the giants. According to eyewitness reports, they were instructed to remain silent about meetings with the ningen.

In 2007, the November issue of MU magazine featured an article about Antarctic humanoids. The article also discussed the possibility of unknown creatures living in the southern seas, and included a screenshot from Google Maps that shows a ningen-like creature swimming in the South Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Namibia.
