I work in the criminal investigation department in an ordinary, small, Russian city. Considering my activities, I have seen a wide variety of murders: gunshot, knife, and I saw a cruel girl. These are the everyday life of my service, to which I have long been accustomed. It is impossible to surprise or scare me. Of course, many become cynics in such a job, otherwise you may end up in a fool. And yet, one case that I ran into a couple of years ago does not get out of my head to this day.
This incident happened in April 2012. Me and my partner were summoned by the residents of a multi-storey building. When we entered the entrance, we immediately guessed what was the matter. On the third floor, there was a pungent, corpse smell. Neighbors said that a young widow lives in the apartment where the smell comes from. A year ago, 24-year-old Ekaterina buried her husband. The strong, armored door was locked - we called a group to break in. The door was latching from the inside.
We entered the apartment. In one of the rooms lay a girl, apparently the owner of the apartment. Bruises on her neck indicated that she had been strangled. The apartment was in perfect order, there were no signs that the victim was resisting.

During the investigation, the laptop and phone of the deceased were carefully checked. Incoming SMS messages have baffled the entire police department. "Katya, I feel bad without you", "Katya, I'll come back for you", "Katya, I'm already here, I came for you." Messages came one at a time, the last one came a few hours before the murder of the girl. It was not possible to determine the number from which the SMS came, even in the FSB they waved their hands, they say, they have seen a lot, but this is something beyond fantasy. Do you know what is the worst thing in this whole story? Catherine's husband, died on April 11, 2011 (got into an accident), and the first message to the victim's phone came on April 11, 2012.
