Anthropologists have recognized the strange mummies allegedly found in the Peruvian Nazca desert as fake. This is reported by Live Science.
The sensational find last week was reported by many news agencies around the world. Allegedly in Peru in the Nazca desert, back in 2015, strange mummies with disproportionately large limbs were discovered. Some have called them the remains of aliens. However, scientists have dispelled this myth.
Anthropology professor Andrew Nelson of the University of Western Ontario said that one of the five finds presented looks like a mummy actually found on the Nazca plateau. However, the unknown left only her body and head.
“Big arms and legs clearly belong to other bodies,” says Andrew Nelson. “The falsifiers probably borrowed them from other mummies. And to hide the traces of manipulation, they covered it with a cloth."
About a dozen Peruvian scientists have spoken out against the falsification of the finds, claiming the practice was contrary to national and international norms. They recalled that in 2015, during excavations, 171 mummies, 1200 years old, were found. The remains belonged to the ancient people who lived in these places.
Probably, some of the mummies on the Nazca plateau were found not by scientists, but by grave robbers. One of these gangs is known to the police, but has remained elusive for 20 years. Perhaps the forgers used fragments of real mummies to create the bodies of "aliens".
