A huge number of reports on contacts of earthlings with UFOs have accumulated. However, many continue to deny the existence of flying saucers. The main argument is the lack of material evidence that could be felt or at least seen with your own eyes.
Skeptics believe that most of the so-called UFO eyewitnesses are deceivers, inventing their stories to gain fame, and if they are lucky, to improve their social and financial situation.
o among the people who believed in the existence of UFOs and saw them, there are many who did not need to acquire fame, high social or material status. They already had all this.
There is still not confirmed (but not refuted) information that already on September 24, 1947 - three months after the meeting of pilot Kenneth Arnold with flying saucers over the Cascade Mountains and the UFO disaster near Roswell that followed a week later - US President Harry Truman approved a top-secret project "Majestic-12" with the participation of the best minds of the country. The task was set before them - in the shortest possible time to reveal the essence and origin of UFOs. The project leaders had to report personally to the president about the progress of the research.
Two people allegedly convinced the president of the need for this project. One of them was Dr. Vannevar Bush, a prominent American scientist, who headed the National Defense Research Committee in 1941, and in 1943 - the Office of Research and Development, the brainchild of which was the famous Manhattan Project, which ended with the creation of the world's first atomic bomb.
The second man was James Forrestal, Secretary of the Navy in the early 1940s, and the US Secretary of Defense in July 1947 during the Roswell incident. Some believe that, in this position, Forrestal visited the site of the UFO crash and saw the consequences with his own eyes. Perhaps the shock experienced during this was the reason for the subsequent mental illness that led him to suicide. In May 1949, while recovering at the naval hospital in Bethesda, Ohio, Forrestal threw himself out of a window in a fit of insanity and crashed to his death.
On April 4, 1950, President Truman told reporters at a press conference at the White House: "I can assure you that flying saucers, if they really exist, cannot be created by human hands anywhere in the world."
On July 28, 1952, British Prime Minister Churchill, in a secret memo sent to the Minister of Aviation Lord Cherwell, wrote: “What does all this noisy excitement around the so-called“flying saucers”mean? What is it based on? Is there some truth in this hype? Let me know your opinion."

A week later, Churchill received a written report signed by Cherwell, which, in particular, said: “… Various reports of unidentified flying objects, called flying saucers in the press, were carefully checked and studied by intelligence agencies during 1951. It was concluded that … without exception, all cases mentioned in the reports could fall into one of the following categories:
a) Known astronomical or meteorological phenomena.
b) Unidentified aircraft, balloons, birds, etc.
c) Optical illusions and hallucinations.
d) Intentional deception”. This is how the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Sir Winston Churchill, was deliberately deceived.
In 1940, during the "Battle of England" during World War II, Air Chief Marshal Lord Dowding commanded the fighter units of the British Royal Air Force.
14 years later, in July 1954, Lord Dowding published a sensational article on UFOs. The information reported by the Lord belonged to the highest category of secrecy, but, nevertheless, he risked his position and reputation in order, as he put it, to serve the interests of society. If Lord Dowding announced his information in his declining years, then this could be interpreted as a manifestation of senile insanity or as an eccentric trick of an elderly person who was out of work. The fact that he made his statement less than ten years after the end of the war lends it much more credibility. Here it is:
“We have received over 10,000 reports of sightings of these mysterious objects, most of which cannot be scientifically explained, that is, hallucinations, light refraction, meteorites, landing gear wheels falling from overhead aircraft, and the like. … These objects were recorded on radar screens, and their speed reached 13,000 km / h … I am convinced that they really exist and that they could not have been manufactured in any country on Earth. Therefore, I see no alternative to accepting the hypothesis of their extraterrestrial origin …"
Earlier, Earl Harold Rupert Alexander of Tunis, a British field marshal, commander-in-chief of the Allied forces in the Mediterranean theater of operations during World War II, and since 1952, the British Minister of Defense, expressed a similar opinion: “This problem haunted me for a long time … There is, of course, there are many phenomena in this world that have not yet been explained, and the orthodox scientist is always the last of those who admit that there may be something new (or old) that defies explanation based on their understanding of the laws of nature."
Trindade Island is located in the middle of the South Atlantic, between Africa and the coast of Brazil. In early January 1958, the Brazilian survey ship Almirante Saldana, which had visited Trindade, was preparing for a return voyage to Brazil when a "metal disc" appeared in the sky over the ship at about noon. He was seen by more than fifty crew members and passengers, among whom was Almiro Barauna, a journalist and photographer. He managed to take only five pictures, then the film was urgently developed and the photographs were printed. The whole process, by order of the captain of the vessel, took place under the supervision of two crew members, "in order to avoid forgery."
After carefully studying the photographs, experts of the Brazilian Navy recognized them as genuine, after which, at a press conference held in a festive atmosphere, the UFO images were handed over to the media by Brazilian President Kubitschek. What is the object captured in the photographs remains a mystery to this day.
Former director of the US CIA, Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillencotter, who served in the intelligence of the US Pacific Fleet during World War II, a man of great authority in the military circles, was an ardent supporter of removing the veil of secrecy from UFO information. Back in the mid-1950s, he made a number of statements on this topic. For example, this:
“The BBC's leadership is still censoring all UFO eyewitness reports. Hundreds of reliable reports from experienced pilots and other technically competent witnesses have been ridiculed or, without any analysis, recognized as errors, delusions, hoaxes.. We absolutely need to find out where UFOs come from, what they are, what are their goals The people have the right to do this know"
And on August 22, 1960, Hillencotter sent a signed statement to the US Congress, which, in particular, said:
“… I urge Congress to take decisive action to reduce the danger posed by the classification of unidentified flying objects. Currently, two components of this danger are steadily increasing:
1. The risk of an accidental start of a war due to our mistaken acceptance of a group of UFOs for military missiles launched against us by the Soviet Union.
2. The danger that the Soviet government may, at a critical moment, declare UFOs as its secret weapon, against which our defenses are powerless."
The admiral believed that “the time has come for the truth to be made public, and this is best done at open hearings in Congress … In reality, senior Air Force commanders are extremely concerned about the UFO problem … However, due to the officially prescribed secrecy and deliberately implanted derisive perception of UFOs, a significant part of the population considers their stupid invention … To hide the facts, the leadership of the Air Force is forcing their subordinates to remain silent, citing demands for secrecy."
A very significant statement from a man who served as head of the CIA less than ten years earlier.
On July 24, 1963, Haydon Berne, Governor of Florida, was aboard a plane flying 1,800 meters south of Ocala. Suddenly, both Berne and howling who were with him on the plane saw a UFO in the air. The governor asked the pilot to change course and get closer to the flying saucer. The pilot, having received permission from the flight control service in Miami, directed the car in the direction of the UFO, but after a few seconds he developed a tremendous speed and disappeared from sight.
Among the passengers on the plane were four journalists. Here are their impressions of what they saw:
“I'm sure we've seen the managed object. This is probably one of those super secret things that, according to the government, no one should know anything. Outwardly, the UFO resembled two plates connected by the upper edges, it glowed with a pale yellow light"
"The UFO consisted, as it were, of two bright, yellowish spherical segments attached to each other. At first, the object was kept from the aircraft at a constant distance, and then suddenly increased its speed and disappeared from sight."
"When we turned in the direction of the UFO and, it seems, began to approach him, he suddenly soared up and after a moment disappeared."
And Governor Haydon Berne described the UFO as follows. “The object was like two huge bowls joined together, filled with bright light. And when we began to pursue this outlandish structure, the lights in both bowls went out, and after that we saw nothing."
In the summer of 1966, rock and roll superstar Elvis Presley told his closest associates, Sonny West and Jerry Schilling, about a UFO flying over his Bel Air villa in California. Presley added that, in his opinion, all UFOs are piloted by intelligent and benevolent beings from space and that the day will come when earthlings will establish long-term and lasting contacts with them.
On June 27, 1967, the New York Post published a statement by the UN Secretary General W. Thang, made by him in a circle of close friends. He said that along with the Vietnam War, the UFO phenomenon is one of the most important problems for the UN. One day in October (according to other sources - January 6) 1969, at about 19.30, the Governor of Georgia Jimmy Carter, the future President of the United States, approached the Lions Club in the city of Leary with the people accompanying him. make a speech, saw a brightly glowing UFO at a distance of 300 to 1000 meters.
On September 18, 1973, Carter, at the request of the National Investigations Committee on Aenal Phenomena (NICAP), sent there a written report of the case. It said, in particular:
“The object was large, very bright, it changed its color. Its size was approximately equal to the size of the Moon. We watched him for about ten minutes - me and another 10-12 people who were near me. The spectacle made a stunning impression on all of us. But none of us could determine what this mysterious object was. One thing I can say with certainty: henceforth I will never laugh at people who claim to have seen unidentified objects in the sky."
On this occasion, many skeptics argued that Carter did not see any UFO, that it was just the brightly sparkling planet Venus. But then it turns out that everyone else who was next to him was also mistaken? Moreover, Carter has a university degree in nuclear physics and is an experienced amateur astronomer. Finally, all witnesses to this incident claim that the object was the size of the moon. As bright as Venus is, it can't seem that big!
Two people named Ford - former US President Gerald Ford and a descendant of the great automaker Henry Ford II - have come into contact with the UFO problem. Gerald Ford, as Congressman, in 1968 tried to get open hearings in Congress, in which former intelligence and military personnel could freely participate in public discussions of UFO issues. Gerald Ford put it this way about the UFO problem itself.
"I believe that we must gain the people's trust in us in everything related to the UFO phenomenon, and provide the maximum possible coverage of research on this phenomenon."
And Henry Ford II and several of his assistants were aboard a DC-8 aircraft flying at an altitude of 10,000 meters over Austin, Texas in April 1968, when the pilot noticed a huge UFO Ford under the plane and all other passengers also saw this UFO, which, according to them, was twice the size of the airliner and flew at a speed of about 900 kilometers per hour.
