Legged Murderer

One of the most famous and insidious furniture monsters can rightfully be considered the famous chair from Hader Sfield, Yorkshire, England. During its three-century "career", which began in 1707, the oak chair managed to kill 65 people.

According to legend, Thomas Busby was sentenced to death by hanging, and his last wish was to have a drink at a local tavern. There the paths of the unremarkable chair and the gallows crossed, who predicted a quick death to everyone who sits in this chair after him. The British are very serious about such things, nevertheless, the chair continued to stand in a drinking establishment, which in 1966 was acquired by a certain Anthony Earnshaw. The enterprising owner renamed the establishment "The Busby Chair", and put its main attraction in a conspicuous place, nailing its legs to the floor and fencing it with a silver chain. Despite the warning sign, there are certainly those who want to try their luck, they say, no one else has been in vain.

In 1967, two brave pilots sat down in a damned seat, that same evening, their car crashed into a tree, and both of them died. In the same year, a sergeant of the British Armed Forces became the victim of the chair, who died three days after the risky experiment. In 1973, the curse just three hours later overtook the daredevil, who turned out to be a young builder: returning to the construction site, he fell down the stairs. This sad list includes curious tourists who fell into an elevator shaft or torn apart by dogs, a cleaning lady who died of brain cancer, and a pizza delivery man who was hit by a truck on a sidewalk.

According to historian Nigel Staul, each of the deaths is qualified as an accident, but looking at them together, it becomes obvious that even after 300 years the power of the curse has not weakened. And this despite the fact that the local curate Joseph Mainwoing-Taylor repeatedly tried to consecrate the ill-fated chair.

A chair with character

Fortunately, such an obvious negative attitude towards people is a rather rare occurrence. Most often, antique furniture is limited to "petty dirty tricks" in relation to some family members.

At the dacha of the Stoyakov family near Moscow, among other rarities, there was an armchair with dark velvet upholstery - a favorite place of the hostess. The head of the family, for some reason, was imbued with a persistent antipathy to this subject and would gladly get rid of it, but his wife would not allow it. However, the chair paid him the same: if a man sat in it, then after a while it became impossible to sit in it - his back felt numb, some sharp objects crawled out from under the upholstery and it began to seem that a comfortable chair had turned into a devilish invention for torture. Several times Stoyakov fell to the floor when he tried to sit in the armchair, as if the furniture itself moved away from under him, twice a leg of the armchair fell off and once the armrest. The last "joke" almost led to serious injury. After that, Dmitry could not stand it and presented his wife with an ultimatum - either the chair would be rendered harmless,or one of them has nothing to do in this house.

So a psychic appeared at the Stoyakovs' dacha, who promised to tame the obstinate furniture. At first, the skeptical spouses were amazed when, after several manipulations, incomprehensible signs began to clearly appear on the seat of the chair. And after a while, these squiggles began to form in the face of a bearded man. The face grinned viciously, winked at Dmitry and disappeared from the upholstery. The psychic was paid in full - the sight of the spirit being driven out of the chair was unforgettable, but, more importantly, the heinous tricks with breaking off the legs stopped. The old monster has turned into the most ordinary chair.

The face that the couple saw during the "casting out demons" session was well engraved in their memory. Several sketches made independently of each other turned out to be surprisingly similar. Family archives were brought up to find out whose identity it was in the chair, but no similar photos were found. And the history of the appearance of the chair itself in the Stoyakovs' house also remained unclear, which is a pity, because the history of such antiques requires close attention.

The last bed

And, of course, one cannot ignore the furniture in this story, which happened to fulfill the function of a deathbed. It is not very rational to throw out a good bed just because your beloved grandmother took her last breath on it, but sometimes you should play it safe. Sleeping places where a person who was sick for a long time died can have an especially unfavorable energy.

Andrei and Tatiana Kolomeytsevs from Saratov were in love with each other since elementary school and the teaser "tili-tili-dough, bride and groom" was perceived more as a compliment. With age, tender feelings not only did not pass, but also took shape in a very specific desire to live a released life together. Parents approved of this decision, only Tanya's grandmother offered incomprehensible resistance. The old woman had not left the house for a long time, but this did not prevent her from taking an active part in the affairs of the family. They decided not to go against her will: while young people received education and did not earn money for bread, there could be no question of a wedding. But now a year has passed since both got a job - it was time to think about living together. As if taking pity on the young, the old woman departed to another world. A few months later they got marriedand the happy couple moved into Granny's apartment.

They did not live well, but in harmony, joy was overshadowed only by the absence of children. For several years they went to the doctors, but they unanimously insisted that there were no physiological obstacles to procreation. Once, after another useless visit to the doctor, Tatyana saw her grandmother in a dream. Sniffing harshly, the old woman said that her granddaughter would not see happiness, since she had acted against her will. Tanya woke up upset, but did not attach much importance to sleep. And after a while Andrei began to wake up screaming or lay for a long time without closing his eyes. Finally, the persistent questions of his wife had an effect: Andrei admitted that the late grandmother often comes to him in a dream, says nasty things, and sometimes tries to strangle or hit him with her crutch.

Not knowing what to do in such a situation, the Kolomeitsevs first decided to get rid of their marital bed, which was served by the old, but solid grandmother's bed - almost the only thing left from the deceased. For a while, they unsuccessfully tried to sell an old oak bed, but there were few who wanted to, and even those refused under plausible pretexts. In the end, Andrey simply dragged the bed into the trash, and bought a cheap folding sofa home.

Nine months later, a daughter appeared in the Kolomeytsev family, so that the young managed to overcome the resistance of a harmful relative. True, it was not without sacrifices: in the morning of the next day, after the ill-fated bed moved to the trash heap, a dead homeless man was found on it, who chose her as a place to sleep. Whether it was a coincidence or not, will remain a mystery, since the further fate of the old oak bed is unknown. It is possible that it has already been taken to pieces and put on firewood, or maybe some compassionate lover of antiquity has picked up and restored it. Then after some time we will be able to hear about the appearance of a new furniture monster.
