The opinion that the eye is like a camera is, of course, not without foundation. At the same time, we know that there are other optical instruments that "see" something else - a microscope and a telescope. Why, then, do we prefer only one reality and neglect others?

Human microscope

That was the nickname of the American artist D. Ostroit, who, without the help of optical instruments, distinguished the smallest details visible only through a microscope. To confirm this ability, scientists asked him to draw the structure of a certain leaf of a plant, which he did with impeccable accuracy. There is still no rational explanation for this phenomenon.

The only hypothesis that can be admitted is that, due to his profession, Ostroyt practiced not only in distinguishing the subtleties of a microscopic pattern, therefore his eye is well trained. An example of such abilities is Leskovsky Levsha, who, without the help of optical instruments, not only shod an "English" flea, but also engraved his name on its horseshoes.

However, the hypothesis of eye exercises and filigree visual experience does not work at all in another, seemingly similar case: engineer V. Manyakhin from Novosibirsk, not being an artist and not having training like the literary Lefty, could in the same way distinguish the molecular structure of various substances without the help of optics.

Another example, when the eye is likened to binoculars or a telescope, testifies to the fact that vision can exceed all permissible possibilities. So, for example, at the beginning of the 20th century, a man was discovered who, without the help of optics, established the location of two satellites of Jupiter, and Saturn seemed to him "flattened", which was later confirmed by the observations of astronomers.

The phenomenon of Rosa Kuleshova

This poorly educated woman who lived in the Urals in the 60s of the last century shocked the scientific world of our country. It is also surprising that the Soviet censorship, extremely scrupulous in matters of the unknown, missed information about the so-called "skin vision". The sensational statement about the possibility of vision without the participation of "cones" and "rods" was a stimulus for scientific research in this direction and at the same time a topic for gossip among the population. But here is what Rosa herself says about the discovery of this gift. In 1960, she worked as the head of a drama club in the society of the blind. She was interested in the ability of the blind to read with the help of touch on the raised Braille symbols. She decided to try it herself and in two weeks she easily learned this art.

However, her curiosity went further: she tried to read ordinary letters blindfolded, and it worked. And after a year and a half, Rosa was already free to read any text without looking at it. In 1962, she even performed in the circus of Nizhny Tagil with her own number, and three years later, having moved to Sverdlovsk, she got a job at a school for the blind, where she began to teach children according to her own method, getting good results. Rosa freely read the text unfamiliar to them, not only with her fingertips, as the blind do, but even with her elbow and buttocks.

The only explanation for her talent that existed at that time was that Rose senses color and light through the highly sensitive nerve endings of the skin. She herself called the procedure itself optical skin vision. But, as it turned out later, scientists were mistaken in the very essence of the phenomenon. The very fact that Rosa could read in the dark, through opaque obstacles, or a text written in invisible sympathetic ink, completely overturned the "skin vision" hypothesis. But there was no other hypothesis then, and it could not have been.

Seer Ved Mehta and others

The Soviet press presented the Rosa Kuleshova phenomenon to readers in such a way that it seemed to everyone that she was the only owner of such a gift in the world. In fact, such people have met before.

Most notable is the story of the Hindu Veda Mehta, blind from birth, who was already known throughout the world in the late 1950s. At the age of three, Mehta went blind, having had meningitis, and his parents no longer hoped that their son would ever regain sight. However, they soon became convinced that the child somehow miraculously navigates not only in his home, but also in unfamiliar terrain. He did not use the cane common for the blind, played ball with his peers, and rode his bicycle freely along the busy streets. Subsequently, Mehta entered one of the colleges, studied well, traveled alone, read a lot and even drove a car.

15 years ago, a similar story happened in China: many newspapers around the world wrote about the phenomenon of a boy named Hu Xin Yu, blind from birth, who could read any text with his teeth, nose and even ears. Parents noticed the extraordinary abilities of the child when he was 5 years old. They asked the doctors for an explanation. A special commission was created, which established that such abilities do exist in a young talent, but it is impossible to explain them from the standpoint of modern science.

Learning to see without eyes

Experience shows that many clairvoyants received their gift as a result of brain disease or traumatic brain injury, when they were on the verge of life and death. An example is the tragic story that happened to the crane operator Y. Vorobyova, who was injured in March 1978 by a high voltage current and miraculously survived. 6 months after the injury, Vorobyova began to see the insides of other people. At first it scared her, later she got used to it and soon became a real attraction in her city. Even doctors turned to her when they could not make an accurate diagnosis. And how many ordinary people came to her - do not count.

However, it is not at all necessary to be hit in the head to become clairvoyant.

In April 1997, the author of this article had a chance to participate in an international conference organized by the L. L. Vasilyeva. Among other presentations, the possibilities of adolescents trained in alternative vision were demonstrated. Among them, of particular interest was schoolboy Denis Savkin, who at that time was no more than 16 years old. Blindfolded, the boy easily read an unfamiliar technical text, found sheets of paper hidden under cardboard tablets, etc.

The apotheosis of the demonstration was the appearance on the stage of one of the most distrustful of the conference participants. Taking a banknote out of his pocket, the skeptic suggested that Denis read her series and number blindfolded at a distance of about 5 meters (as long as the scene allowed). The boy read everything unmistakably, deservedly provoking thunderous applause from the audience. Still would! It is impossible to read such small numbers even with an "armed" eye!

What is the basis of vision without eyes?

As you know, academic science disowns such a concept as "sight without eyes", considering it meaningless in its essence.

According to research by specialists in alternative science, the so-called "third eye" responsible for such vision is not only the pineal gland, but also other subcortical centers associated with it, which in modern humans usually do not function, and therefore, to activate them, it is required to overcome the existing installation in the mind, arousing their work with special exercises …

It is believed that the ability of sight, or, better to say, vision (let's not confuse it with physiological vision), is "scattered" throughout the body of any living creature. Moreover, it is fundamentally different from physiological vision.
