Video: How Corporations Are Ruining Your Health (Food Industry Documentary) | Real Stories 2024, May
Anonim

The documentary What is Health showed that people's lives and health are irrelevant and even threaten the profits of the meat, dairy and pharmaceutical industries. It is very difficult to believe in the corporate contempt exposed by this film. The film also showed that our "respected" watchdog agencies, both non-profit and government, accept money from large corporations in exchange for silence about the dangers of food and medicine. In addition, some myths are exposed in this film. For example, it has been shown that the main factor in the development of diabetes is not sugar, but dairy products. It is certainly not a perfect film, but it reveals the destructive collaboration between corporations and government, resulting in human suffering.

Corporate profit is more important than our health

The documentary What is Health, like the World Health Organization and other international medical organizations, calls processed and red meat carcinogenic. However, a powerful lobby keeps America in the first place in the world for meat consumption. The pharmaceutical and chemical industries are contributing to population poisoning by supplying pesticide-laden GMO corn and GMO soybeans, as well as milk and cow meat heavily fed with antibiotics.

"Independent" watchdog organizations receive salaries from large corporations

Pointing to organizations such as the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Organization, and the Susan Komen Foundation, the host of What Is Health says: diseases that they must fight”. The reason for this is the funding of these organizations by corporations such as Kraft Foods, Oscar Mayer, Tyson Chicken, Dannon and Yoplait Yogurts, Pizza Hut, KFC, Taco Bell, Subway, Domino and other companies that produce and sell beef and dairy products.

Even worse, American medical organizations accept millions of dollars from pharmaceutical corporations that are making billions of dollars in diseases they must fight. These corporations include Pfizer, Merck, Lilly, Johnson & Johnson, Abbott and others. All of these companies are interested in us being sick, not healthy. On the diabolical effect of drugs on our lives, Time magazine recently wrote: “If you become addicted to painkillers, there are pills that can help you stop taking the pills, reducing withdrawal symptoms. And if you become addicted to these pills, then there are pills for that too."

The US government works with large corporations

The US government helps sell the very products that make us sick. The USDA explains corporate funding for product verification programs as follows: "Promotion of a product as a whole, rather than individual businesses, means everyone in the industry benefits from increased sales, consumer awareness, and higher overall demand." These “audits,” or rather corporate lobbying, have led food and pharmaceutical corporations to use government officials to complicate our fight against health violations.

We cannot sue corporations that make us fat and sick

Since 1960, the average American has gained 12 to 15 kilograms due to the growth of the meat, dairy and sugar industries. But we cannot fight this system. The so-called "Cheeseburger Law" prohibits legal action against corporations that are responsible for our obesity.

We have no right to know what our food is made of

In violation of common sense, we don't even have the right to know what we eat. The Law of Darkness, which denies Americans the right to know, was passed to prohibit laws that legalize the labeling of GMO products.

If we protest against animal cruelty, we are called terrorists

The Livestock Anti-Terrorism Law has banned the right to freedom of speech for animal advocates who criticize exploitative livestock practices.

The absurdity of the capitalist approach to health

Our healthcare system focuses on symptoms, not causes of disease. Plant-based diets contribute to good health, but due to the influence of large food and pharmaceutical corporations, we eat meat and dairy products to buy medicines for the diseases they cause. Why don't our schools teach nutrition? Every child, every young person, every doctor should receive this knowledge. We are mired in ignorance as corporations use the old tobacco industry slogan: "Doubt is our product." The less we know, the better for them.
