The Neuralink presentation will take place on August 28th. Not much is known about the project, but Elon Musk often talks about it and gives intriguing hints on his Twitter.

Apparently, Musk just can't wait to share his new project with the world. So, last weekend, the founder of the company answered an interesting question from the scientist Austin Howard. He asked Musk on Twitter: "Will we ever be able to listen to music directly through such an interface, transmitting it directly to the brain, in other words, without headphones." To which Musk replied, briefly, clearly: "yes."

However, this short yes is just part of the company's big plans. So far, the most complete data on the project has come only once during a 2019 presentation, in which the company demonstrated a device that connects to the brain through holes in the skull. The main purpose of such a device is to restore disrupted neural connections in those suffering from brain disorders, including Parkinson's disease. And this is the only official information so far.

Musk is now actively answering questions about Neuralink on social media. He announced last week that his new project will be able to "fix" the parts of the brain responsible for depression and addiction.

As for the function that would allow transmitting music directly to the brain, everything is not so simple. Bone conduction sound transmission is no longer uncommon, but the use of neuronal stimulation for this is difficult. It is still completely unclear how technology can bypass the auditory nerve to transmit music directly to the brain.
