In 2013, the Discovery Channel reported some interesting news. An archaeological group from Italy managed to find a portal that, according to some sources, can lead to the afterlife.
This place is usually called the Gate of Pluto, this is the name of the ruler of the "Kingdom of the Dead" on the territory of the Holy Roman Empire.
The amazing was reported in March of the same year at a historic conference held in Istanbul. The group of researchers who found the gate to another world was led by Professor Salento Francesco d'Andrii.
Scientists carried out archaeological work near Hierapolis, the most ancient Phrygian city, lying on the territory of modern Turkey. The professor said that in this place they tried to recreate the route of the ancient thermal spring and came across the so-called Pluto's gate.
In ancient times, the town had an extremely bad reputation, and it brought this glory to our times. Even in the ancient Roman records, there was a mention from Strabo about this bad place, who described the entrance to the "Pluto dungeon" as an opening strongly hidden by dense fogs - nothing could be seen even at arm's length.
According to written records, if something living got into the cave, then inevitable death awaited him. As Strabo recorded it, he also conducted experiments with sparrows: he threw the birds into a cave, where they died the same hour.
A logical explanation for the strangeness of what was happening then was not found, except that it really was some kind of portal leading to some unknown dimension.
Today, the entrance to Pluto's abode is represented by the collapsed remains of a pool that once belonged to the temple, and several steps leading up. Italian archaeologists have suggested that in ancient times there were people on these steps who were strictly forbidden to come close to the gates of Pluto.

It is interesting, but initially the complex was very popular with a huge number of pilgrims who lived in the era of the ancient world. People came here so that the oracles predicted their fate, the outcome of some important matter, and generally answered many questions of those wishing to know the future.

At the same time, we cannot deny the great importance of this place in those forgotten epochs, when in this place could really be the Door of Space-Time, which no one had the right to pass through without the permission of the priests. Maybe in the past there was actually a gateway to the other world here?
I do not know about the past, but in our time a portal to the Kingdom of the Dead really works here. The involuntary testers of the place were two curious tourists from Germany, who, having made their way into a tiny room under the Temple of Apollo, died.
However, the strangeness of what is happening in these places, scientists explained the deadly effect of carbon dioxide: according to D'Andriy, birds flying up to the entrance hole, radiating with heat, fell dead, and the participants in the excavations themselves had a hard time.
It is curious how, then, the ancient priests could be here without gas masks and did not die? Here is what Strabo says about it: only the eunuchs of the most ancient goddess of fertility, Cybele, could come to the “gates of hell” without fear of major health problems.
The eunuchs of the goddess probably held their breath for as long as they could. Although Strabo does not exclude the possibility that the priests could have some supernatural power, in particular the physiological abilities of the body, which allowed them to enter the poisoned room.
