VTsIOM presented a number of interesting opinion polls about citizens' attitudes towards science.
The American landing on the moon is a fake! 57 percent of Russians are convinced of this, according to a recent poll by sociologists. Most of all, people with secondary education believed in the theory of the "lunar conspiracy", among them 65% believe that the flight to the moon was faked, and all the videos about their stay on the Earth's satellite were filmed in Hollywood sets. And only 24% of Russian citizens believe that the American lunar mission has achieved its goal. It is curious that the Soviet space specialists who conducted continuous optical and radio-technical observation of the Apollo 11 flight never doubted this. And today, the level of technical means allows you to directly see American flags, landing modules and electric vehicles left by astronauts on the surface of the Earth's satellite.
Another no less interesting detail that characterizes the mindset of Russians: 45% of citizens believe in the existence of aliens. At the same time, 18% of respondents are sure that the authorities are hiding aliens from the population. Skeptics who believe that representatives of extraterrestrial civilizations have never visited Earth, or they do not exist at all, accounted for only 42%.
It would seem that this is a paradox: to believe in "little green men", having no evidence of their existence, and not to believe in events (in this case, it is the landing on the moon) despite the obvious evidence. But this phenomenon can be explained with the help of the third survey of sociologists by VTsIOM. His data says that 59% of Russians (more than half!) Believe that scientists are deliberately hiding from society the truth about the structure of the world around them. These figures indicate that trust in pundits is rapidly falling. According to surveys that were conducted from 2010 to 2017, the authority of academicians was significantly higher, the rating ranged from 66% to 79%.
The most distrustful of scientists are those who have not graduated from high school. 77% of them believe that scientists are hiding the truth from society.
Well, and lastly: 3 percent of Russians are sure that the Earth is flat. But 93 are ready to bet that it has the shape of a ball.

More than half of Russians (58%) believe in God. Such data were published by VTsIOM, based on the results of a survey it conducted in October. The piety of citizens in our country is growing - the number of believers turned out to be 6% more than last year. But the number of those who believe in destiny dropped by 5%.
