Schauer violates earthly laws, but works, promising to get us to the moon in four hours. The strange unit is being tested all over the world and they do not yet know how to relate to it.

British engineer Roger Schauer, the author of the engine that does not need fuel, founded the company in 2001 to develop his idea and over the years has managed to convert a lot of scientists and techies, who initially took it with hostility. With indignation and an ardent desire to bring the presumptuous Englishman to clean water, they built analogues of his engine all over the world and as a result stated: it works. Engineers from Great Britain, Germany, China and hundreds of enthusiasts around the world fell before the harsh truth of the experiment. And NASA fell a couple of years ago. China also seems to be in business - at the beginning of autumn there were reports about the creation of a working prototype of the engine by local scientists and about its imminent testing in space.

Into space on a bucket

And logically, all this should not be. After all, the principles of EmDrive work violate the fundamental laws of physics, according to which, in order to create motion, you need to push off from something, and to send something necessary on a long flight, you must throw something unnecessary in the opposite direction. Schauer's technology is waste-free: an electromagnetic wave travels from one end to the other in a waveguide made in the form of a truncated pyramid, sealed at both ends. If they had the same diameter, it would hit both ends equally, but since the size is different, the wavelength changes.

As Schauer recalls, the momentum transmitted by a wave upon reflection is proportional to its length. As a result, the impulse at the wider end will be less than at the narrow end - and thrust appears. Without throwing away any jet "garbage".

As already mentioned, this "gravicapa" (gravicapa is an important part of a pepelatsa, a spacecraft from Georgy Danelia's film "Kin-dza-dza!", Which allowed intergalactic movements. time. The verdict was something like this every time: “It really works! But how?!" And while skeptics are trying to figure out why something that shouldn't be fooled, enthusiasts relish the opening prospects.

“They are really exciting,” the historian of science Sergey Alexandrov told VM. - After all, it turns out that sending a spacecraft on a flight does not require tons of standard fuel - one good battery is quite enough. In addition, the achievement of the 2nd cosmic speed (the spacecraft needs it to overcome the gravity of the earth) now requires a very whimsical trajectory from the spacecraft. With the Schauer engine, the ship will move like clockwork - at any speed and along any chosen curve.

And the anomalous English "bucket" promises to make a trip to the moon a complete banality for us. A visit to a satellite will become something like a trip from Moscow to Yaroslavl by train: four hours on the way - and you can already jump in slow jumps over craters like your Armstrong.

Keldysh is urgently needed

"Electric train" is generally, it seems, an advanced transport. And on a galactic scale:

“There are quite serious reasons to believe that man-made UFOs (not to be confused with hallucinations, hoaxes,“swamp gas explosions”and other fantasies) use electromagnetic waves for flight,” explains Aleksandrov. - Back in the 1970s-1980s, the professor at the Moscow Aviation Institute, Felix Siegel, drew attention to this, having meticulously studied this phenomenon with a purely utilitarian goal - to learn how to fly like them. For example, tons of evidence have already accumulated that the close flight of these units seriously disrupts the operation of earthly electrical appliances - from light bulbs and car alarms to radars.

That is, a rather powerful electromagnetic pulse really emanates from them. Do not forget that the EM field is much more flexible in control, it is much easier to manipulate it than, for example, some mechanical processes. Add aerodynamics to this (unlike all other wing shapes, the disc shape is stable at all angles of attack) - it turns out it is the UFO. And it is quite possible that EmDrive is the very forerunner that will allow us to raise terrestrial aviation and astronautics to a completely different level.

It is not yet clear who will be at the forefront of the motor revolution. But Russia, it seems, will not be there.

- We have all attempts to expand work on this topic go into the sand. For example, back in 1999, one sensible radio-wave operator told me exactly the same scheme. We tried to rock the boat into specialized institutes, I personally, while working then in a very serious space institution, threw the management of memoranda - in vain. They said “thank you,” and that was the end of it. After all, visually, there is a violation of the law of conservation of momentum, the RAS reaction to such things is simply hysterical, and according to all standards, there is no progress in development without the approval of the Academy.

And now it is still sadder: no matter what scientific branch you take, management at all levels, starting with the heads of departments, does not operate at all with the concepts of the future - everyone is focused on current economic activities. In order for electromagnetic motors to appear with us, we need someone charismatic at the level of the Queen or Keldysh.

Don't stay on the beans

Well, about “rock the boat and get just thanks” - not only ours are skilled in this. The history of invention is replete with conspiracy stories about the opposition of mysterious forces to the revolutionary trends of progress. From the burnt-out laboratory of Nikola Tesla to the chain of strange deaths that mowed down Russian scientists in our country and abroad at the beginning of 2000s.

As a rule, dastardly monopolists appear as customers in the stories, who do not feed them bread, but let them put another invention under the rug, designed to save humanity from their all-encompassing tentacles.

There were, of course, precedents, of course. The classic story is said to have happened with disposable lighters.

Invented in the 1940s, they only hit stores 20 years later. And all because of the monopolists-matchmakers who bought and hid the patent for their production.

American trams were not very lucky - in the early 1920s, local auto corporations bought and closed hundreds of independent tram companies, clearing the market for their own gasoline monsters.

And also, they say, we were deprived of such a useful thing as a chronovisor, which was allegedly invented by the Italian priest Ernetti in the 1960s. According to him, the device allowed observing any event in the history of mankind by tuning to residual vibrations that persist as a result of any action.

Interestingly, the group of researchers also included the famous physicist Enrico Fermi, who, being dying, stated that the chronovisor (which by that time had already mysteriously disappeared somewhere) really existed and even worked. Conspiracy theorists claim that the unit did not disappear anywhere, but still functions properly somewhere in the Vatican underground …

“There are innumerable stories like this,” says Aleksandrov. - Believe them or not - everyone's right. I think that the truth, as always, is somewhere nearby. Including with the mysterious deaths of promising scientists. Still, the reasons are very different, including quite commonplace. For example, a very real thing, when scientists take money from someone for their inventions, and when then sponsors come and say “where?..”, geniuses often have nothing to answer. Well, and people who give money have a bad habit of resorting to force in such cases … As for the dictatorship of transnational corporations, now the world has seriously changed. And it became much more difficult to keep silent about something, thanks to the Internet, and the companies themselves have greatly diversified, investing serious money in a variety of industries - so that if a financial, energy or some other collapse occurs in one direction, you do not remain completely on the beans.

Well, it looks like we have a chance to check whether the "anomalous" Schauer engine will turn into another conspiracy legend, or all the same (sooner or later), send us to the moon or somewhere else.

REFERENCE

The final point in the story with EmDrive is going to be put by the designer of another engine (Cannae Drive), working on the same principle - Guido Petta. This year, the American plans to launch the brainchild into space to test it in low orbit.

WE WON'T GO, WON'T RIDE: DISSOLVED AND FORGOTTEN ENGINES FEW KNOWS ABOUT

Marsol's engine

In the 1950s, Jean Marsol patented a molecular internal combustion engine that ran on water, zinc and antimony. Shortly after the publication of the patent application, he died along with family members and laboratory staff. It is believed that transnational oil monopolies had a hand in this.

Charles wheels

In 1946 the English electrician John Charles discovered a new effect of electromechanics: a radial electromotive force with a vertical vector appeared in a rapidly rotating disk.

To increase this force, he began to magnetize the discs. Once the block of rings broke away from the motor that was spinning them and at first hovered 1.5 meters above the ground, constantly increasing the speed, and then began to rise. As a result, spinning up to a crazy speed, the block flew off into the blue. A side effect of the experiment was the termination of radio communications and turning off the radio receivers in the immediate vicinity. Later Shal learned to control the "overclocking" of these disks. However, British scientists ridiculed the "ignoramus", and the local energy service presented a gigantic bill for the use of electricity, although Charles had his own power plant, and as a result, he was imprisoned. All equipment and appliances were destroyed, and the house was burned.

Clem fuel-free engine

In 1972, Richard Clem (Texas, USA) was working with equipment that spray and pump liquid asphalt, and noticed that the asphalt cone pump, after a power outage, continued to run for up to half an hour. The result was an engine that did not require fuel. Clem never applied for a patent because his motor was based on a previously patented pump design. A large coal company signed a contract with him to sell the engine, after which Clem died suddenly, and all references to the engine immediately stopped.

Installation Filimonenko

In the early 1950s, Ivan Filimonenko invented a device that is now called a cold nuclear fusion reactor, and at that time was called a thermal emission hydrolysis unit (photo 5). The work was supported by Kurchatov, Korolev and Marshal Zhukov.

In the 60s, the author applied for an invention, but the expert committee decided that the operation of the installation contradicted the laws of physics. High patrons were already out of work (someone died, someone was in disgrace), so Filimonenko was removed from office, and all work was stopped.

Bauman's Testatic

The Swiss Paul Baumann invented a strange engine, reminiscent of an ordinary school electrostatic machine with Leyden jars: two acrylic discs with 36 narrow sectors of thin aluminum glued to them rotated in different directions. After launch, the disks continued to spin independently for an unlimited time. A generator was built on the basis of the machine.

Now Baumann is the leader of a closed community of 500 in the village of Meterlich (Switzerland), which is completely powered by electricity from his generators and keeps the secret of their work.
