Scientists are putting theories underneath EmDrive, a paradoxical engine that allows spacecraft to be accelerated without ejecting mass.

Impossible became possible

British scientist Roger Shawyer puzzled the world of science and technology back in 2000 when he demonstrated a prototype of his engine - EmDrive. Or gravitsapu, as we called it. They named it not by chance, since this very EmDrive allows you to move in space without erupting or throwing anything out of itself - like a gravitational vehicle equipped with a gravitational machine, on which the heroes of the film "Kin-dza-dza" flew. Flying saucers from other science fiction films are accelerated in a similar way.

In real life, all currently existing space engines create thrust, throwing something off - either the products of fuel combustion, or ions dispersed by an electromagnetic field.

Looks like "Shoreyer's gravity" is by no means fantastic. Simple to amazement. A closed truncated cone is a kind of jug. Inside - a source of microwave radiation. It is created by a magnetron - about the same that generates waves in a household microwave. And that's all. You turn on the microwave - a force arises that acts towards the bottom of a larger area. Some miracle …

And since 2000, "sane scientists" have been proving: EmDrive cannot create thrust because its appearance would contradict Newton's laws. For example, the law of conservation of momentum.

But there are others who are trying to understand the essence of the phenomenon. That is, to understand where the craving can come from.

The most recent theoretical attempt was made by Finnish physicists from the University of Helsinki, publishing their hypothesis in the journal AIP Advances.

“EmDrive, of course, has an exhaust, like any other jet engine,” says one of the authors of the publication, Professor Arto Annila, physics professor.

According to the scientist, gravicapa casts off photons that are released as a result of the interference of microwave radiation waves. They just can't be seen. The photons that have escaped outward do not manifest themselves in the form of light, since they “extinguish” each other, being in antiphase. But the impulse is transferred due to the appearance of an invisible electromagnetic wave - with the so-called zero polarization. As a result, cravings arise.

As the professor explains, a similar phenomenon can be reproduced in water if the waves are set in such a way that the hump of one overlaps the depression of the other. The process is underway, but no waves are visible on the surface.

The thrust waves are generated by the asymmetry of the EmDrive housing. If it were a flat pipe, no force would appear.

Scheuer himself also believes that the effect arises due to the asymmetry of the cone, but only due to the fact that the microwaves press more on the bottom of a larger area than on the opposite.

To colleagues, the explanation about wave pressure seems too primitive. And they - like Artaud Annila - are sophisticated in exotic hypotheses, the number of which is close to ten. They sin either on a certain “virtual plasma toroid” that appears in the jug, then on “quantum oscillations of the vacuum”, then on “ether” from which the engine is repelled, then on exotic particles that create thrust, “flying directly from the fabric of space-time” …

EM Drive prototypes created in different laboratories

British physicist Mike McCulloch of Plymouth University has developed his own theory of inertia in an attempt to explain the EmDrive phenomenon. I brought in the so-called Unruh radiation, which occurs in accelerating objects. He announced that it also accelerates the gravicap. But it is impossible to fix the Unruh radiation in the current EmDrive, they say, because they are small. And it generates very long waves to which the devices simply do not react.

Pull-pull

Practitioners are also on the alert. They have already built working models of gravity machines. They tested their EM Drive engines in China, Great Britain, and Germany. In Romania, gravicapu soldered houses from copper sheets, and then tested it by an amateur researcher. Someone Berca Julian (Berca Iulian). I got the craving.

Since last year, engines have come to grips with the United States. Several experiments were conducted by specialists close to NASA - from the Eagleworks Laboratory (Johnson Space Center in Texas).

All testers are convinced: EM Drive works. And according to American data, it works in a vacuum. That is, the engine can be used to drive spacecraft.

The results of experiments with just models are impressive. For example, the Chinese professor Yang Juan from the Northwestern Polytechnic University "gravicapa" created a thrust of almost 100 grams.

If you believe the calculations, then a full-scale EM Drive, and even with superconducting magnets, will "pull" with a force of 3 tons for every kilowatt of supplied electrical energy. That is, it will even make it possible to create flying cars - like the film "The Fifth Element".

Testing EM Drive at NASA

A spacecraft equipped with Scheuer's gravitons, taking into account acceleration and deceleration, will deliver to Mars in 70 days, to the Moon in 4 hours.

Enthusiasts are now arguing about the speeds to which EM Drive can be accelerated. Some say the limit is about 10 percent of the speed of light. This is 30 thousand kilometers per second - an unprecedented speed for today, a thousand times higher so far achieved by earthly spacecraft.

According to Paul Mach of the same Eagleworks Laboratory, recent studies carried out here have shown that the magnetic field patterns on the bottoms are different.

NASA reveals anomalies in the magnetic field distribution in EM Drive

It is possible that the discovered anomaly is somehow connected with the curvature of space around the "gravity", which, according to rumors, manifested itself in the experiments of NASA. Allegedly, in this curved space, the laser beams were accelerated. In other words, the so-called Warp effect appeared. For science fiction writers, it allows you to move faster than light. But even without curved space, EM Drive will make interstellar travel a reality. For example, Alpha Centauri - the closest system to us - may be reached in less than 100 years.

If you fly only within the solar system, then you won't even have to take fuel on board a ship equipped with EM Drive. Microwave radiation can be generated using energy from solar panels. And for long-distance expeditions, of course, you need some powerful sources. For example, nuclear reactors. Or thermonuclear - someday they will be created.

In about 100 years, EM Drive will deliver an inhabited ship to the nearest star
