Over the past 10-15 years, many people have begun to notice all sorts of oddities that occur over time. Objectively, time flows as it did: there are still 24 hours in a day, 60 minutes in an hour, 60 seconds in a minute, and so on. However, subjectively, many people think that the day has become shorter and time is flowing faster. According to general estimates, today a day lasts about 12-18 hours and time continues to accelerate, but since we ourselves seem to be swimming in this time, there is no particular opportunity to register the metamorphoses taking place with it. Although, of course, there are some loopholes.
So from Athos, for example, messages come that they have problems there with reading prayers and burning lamps. According to their daily routine, monks have to read a certain number of prayers per day - this has been the case for centuries. But now they do not have time to read all the prayers. A similar story is with lamps: usually lamps are expected to burn for a strictly defined time, some even burn for a whole year, more precisely, they must burn, because now the oil does not burn out in a year, or it needs to be added.
No one knows how to explain this, but the loophole left by Nature is obvious: in order to notice any fluctuations in the structure of space-time, the clock should not be electronic, not atomic, but built in the old fashioned way - on some chemical or mechanical principles. For example, one could make huge tower chimes, where the gears have a large mass and therefore are less susceptible to deformations of the space-time continuum. And put these chimes not on the square, but shove them somewhere under the ground, so that there are fewer neutrinos flying and closer to the rock, which also has a huge local mass.
This whole extremely expensive undertaking looks like nonsense, however, as Popular Mechanics reports on April 27 of this year, Mr. Jeffrey Preston is the founder and head of the Internet company Amazon.com, the founder and owner of the aerospace company Blue Origin, the owner of The Washington Post publishing house and 150 billion dollars (by the most conservative estimates) suddenly decided to take up such a project. The project, as can be understood from the video and description, is huge, comparable to the construction of an anti-nuclear bomb shelter for the government. That is, somewhere inside the mountain, a mechanical clock is being built, next to which Big Ben will be like a pocket watch, and the chimes on the Spasskaya Tower will be like an alarm clock. And all this for the sake of show-off and making money on tourists, who will pay off the project somewhere in two or three thousand years? And that’s even if by the clock the folk trail is not overgrown and people will go there to spend money.

And now the question is: Jeffrey Preston is the type of local city madman? This is very unlikely to be believed. Ponty has nothing to do with it either. For show-off now there is a fight for the environment, the fight against AIDS, helping the hungry in Africa - whatever you want, then choose. And now you can still distribute fans and medical masks, after which the kindness of the patron will be glorified at every corner. So the construction of clocks is not at all like show-off.
And most importantly, some really crazy inventor has been running around with the idea of such a watch for almost 40 years, wandering around the offices of possible sponsors, like Moses in the desert. This Danny Hillis, father, so to speak, of the whole project - is he also crazy?
This is also very unlikely to be believed. Rather, we are talking about the fall of serious people who are really interested in miracles over time and have invested huge money in the project. And Jeffrey Preston is there like a sign - so that no one asks questions and everyone who learns something about the project just twists their fingers to their temples, goes home and does not interfere with people doing a serious matter - building a clock that counts the time until the End of the World.
According to the eschatology of all times and peoples, before this world turns into dust there will be an acceleration of time.
