In the Jebel Kurma desert located on the territory of Jordan, several hundred ancient burials were discovered, which are small stone pyramids.
The Jebel Kurma Desert, characterized by incredible aridity, is often called the "Valley of the Dead Fire" - writes Live Science, which dedicated special material to the archaeological discovery.
“Most of the tombs we found are mounds made of stone. Their average height is one and a half meters, and their diameter is five meters. The pyramidal mounds are made of flattened basalt slabs,”says Peter Ackermans, one of the leaders of the archaeological expedition, an employee of the Leiden University (Netherlands).
The burials found by scientists are located in the vicinity of lively settlements that fell into decay about four thousand years ago.
However, there is a discrepancy - the age of the discovered burials does not coincide with the time when the settlements in Jebel Kurma were abandoned. The tombs are much younger - they were built three thousand years ago.
In general, everything indicates that after the first exodus, the region was populated again. However, it will probably be possible to understand this mystery only after careful research.
