Inhabitants of the Sverdlovsk region today observed an unusual natural phenomenon in the sky. Several readers sent us photographs that they took in Verkhnyaya Pyshma or near it. Looking at the pictures, you might think that there are two or even three suns in the sky. Another picture from Verkhnyaya Pyshma is completely unusual. Ekaterina, who shared the photo, wrote: "Apparition on January 7 near the church." Photos of similar solar poles were sent to us at the end of November.
This rarely happens, although this is not the first time this winter. Such a phenomenon is a kind of halo called parhelium, it can be observed only two or three times per winter, Vladilen Sanakoev, an engineer at the educational observatory of the UrFU, told E1. RU.
“In the frosty air, after the temperature dropped, elongated six-sided ice crystals formed, which hung vertically in the air,” Sanakoev explained earlier. - Sunlight is refracted in them, and at a distance of 22 degrees to the right and left of the Sun, false suns, colored spots in the sky are formed. In general, this phenomenon is akin to a rainbow, only it is formed not on water droplets, but on crystals of a certain shape.
