Alelia Murphy, a native of North Carolina, claims to have lived to a ripe old age thanks to her faith in God and an active lifestyle. It is reported by the information portal NBC New York. On Saturday, July 6, Murphy celebrated her 114th birthday with family and friends. At the celebration, a woman appeared in an elegant yellow dress and with a tiara on her head. Her nurse, Natalia Mhlambiso, told reporters that the birthday girl had been eating right and playing sports all her life.

“Stay active and eat healthy from a young age, and keep up the good work as you get older, that’s the secret,” said Mambiso, who visits Murphy twice a week. “Believe in God and be a decent person,” Murphy added, explaining the guarantee of her longevity. Relatives noticed that she never drank alcohol, but loves ice cream, chocolate and soda. Now the American lives with an assistant and one of her granddaughters.

Alelia Murphy became the oldest resident of the United States in January 2019 after the death of 114-year-old Lessie Brown from Ohio state. The oldest person in the world, 116-year-old Kane Tanaka, lives in the Japanese city of Fukuoka. Earlier in July, it was reported that a resident of the English city of Stansted, Essex, lived to be a hundred years old thanks to her favorite dish. Centenary Mary Emerson said that for most of her life she treated household members to freshly baked sausages in dough. “It was this delicacy and positive attitude that helped me live to old age,” said the long-liver.
