David was driving home in his rented car as his own was being renovated. He had a long way to go, and at a gas station, David filled a full tank. Imagine his surprise when, having driven no more than 40 kilometers, he saw on the meter that the fuel was running out. It was beginning to get dark, a strong blizzard arose, visibility was practically zero. There were almost no cars on the road, and the prospect of spending New Year's Eve in the snowy desert threatened.
As if it were a sin, the young man forgot his cell phone at home. If something serious happens - there is no one to call for help. Turning into the parking lot, David saw that there, about fifteen meters from him, was a truck. A man in white immediately got out of it, opened the trunk and began to pull something out of it. Singleton got out of the car and headed for the truck. He hoped that the driver had a telephone connection and, perhaps, he would be able to call the road service.
A figure in a white robe took a can of gasoline from the trunk and signaled to David who approached that he could take it. The chilled traveling salesman did not know if it was a man or a woman. At first he did not even realize how this strange driver knew without a single question what his problems were. Later Singleton recalled that his accidental assistant was as if disembodied, almost swaying in the wind. But at that moment, he just instinctively grabbed the canister and ran to his car.
The truck pulled off first, slowly driving up the road that climbed a high hill. David already realized that he was behaving like a boor: not only did he not pay for the gasoline, but he didn’t have time to thank either. He decided to catch up with his fellow traveler and correct his mistake.
However, having entered the hill, the manager did not see any car ahead: the tracks from the truck's tires broke off right at the top. This surprised him so much that, despite the intense cold, he jumped out of the car and began to examine the road. The snow had already stopped, and in such a short time it would not have had time to cover up the tracks. There was also no sign of a turn to the right or to the left. The truck and its driver seemed to vanish into thin air. David got back behind the wheel and sat for a long time, staring numbly at the road.
He had never encountered anything like it before.
Singleton made the rest of the way without incident and made it home before midnight. And when he handed over the car to the rental shop the next morning, it turned out that her gas tank was leaking heavily.
Singleton is a sober and practical person; in his entire previous life, he never once thought about whether people have guardian angels. But now he knows for sure - he has such an angel!
