The repetition of the same subjects in the myths of peoples significantly distant from each other suggests the conclusion about a single source of this information. The ideas of ancient people about the world around them did not spread far from the center of their residence. In the myth-making of different peoples, "Land of the Gods" - a common name for all lands located far beyond the mountains in the north or where the sun rises, was, as a rule, beyond their reach by mere mortals. For the ancient Greeks, the White Island was located on the Black Sea (Ponte Euxine), near the mouth of the Danube, practically on the edge of the earth. The Greek geographers called all the peoples who lived above Pontus Euxinus, Istra and the Adriatic Sea Hyperboreans. For the ancient Sumerians it was an earthly paradise in Dilmun, according to their version - "the island of the blessed" - this is the modern island of Barhein in the Persian Gulf, it is also the "island of the dead" for the Egyptians. In Indo-Aryan myths, the "radiant island", the ancestral home of the Aryans, was located north of Mount Meru in the polar region of darkness,where the sun only rises once a year. It was from there, as it is reported in the ancient Indian epics "Mahabharata" and "Ramayana", that the Aryans moved after a cold snap to the southern regions. In the Tibetans' view, the "radiant Shambhala" was also located at an inaccessible distance somewhere in the north, next to Mount Meru.
