Other peoples also have legends about sacred stones - "aerolites" that fell on the sacred center of the Earth. In Russian folklore, a similar plot is known from medieval Russian epics. According to the reconstructed pagan legends, Alatyr, a "white stone", fell from the sky onto the sacred center of the Earth, located on the sea-ocean, on Buyan Island. The laws of the heavenly god Svarog were inscribed on the fallen stone. According to the Slavic-Aryan Vedas, Buyan Island was located on the Eastern Sea, on the site of modern Eastern Siberia. The “Book of Light” hypothesizes that this land is Belovodye (?).

The repetition of the same subjects in the myths of peoples significantly distant from each other suggests the conclusion about a single source of this information. The mythical features of the blessed land are repeated in the traditions of different cultures and have the same characteristics. Today it is difficult to single out the original features inherent only to the Shambhala Island, they all have analogues in earlier stories about the legendary civilization of Hyperboreans, about the world Mount Meru, Alatyr Mountain, about the radiant Shveta-dvipa / White Island /.

According to the legends of Europe, in ancient times in the North, or "Land-End", there was a magic kingdom - blessed, Arctic islands, inhabited by gods and godlike people - the first progenitors of people. In this blissful country no one grew old. Before the onset of cold weather, life on these islands was happy and carefree: the gardens were blooming, and the cattle quickly gained weight. The “Book of Veles” says that “two darkness years ago (ie 20,000 years) the ancient Aryans - the ancestors of the Slavs left the North, led by the god Surya-Yar, because of the onset of a great cold, for the cold came, which the Black Idol summoned. According to the legends set forth in the "Book of Veles", approximately as early as the III millennium BC. the lands from the Gulf of Finland to the mouth of the Ob were the birthplace of the Aryans. According to one version, the ancient sacred land of the Aryans was located somewhere at the mouth of the Ob River. Right here,on the White Island, the legends of the "Book of Kolyada" place the most ancient temple, which was the prototype of the first temple near the sacred Alatyr Mountain. It is curious that on the modern map there is still such an island called White. It is located west of the Gulf of Ob, north of the Yamal Peninsula. “The myths of the Nenets, inhabiting the tundra from Arkhangelsk to the Northern Urals and the Yenisei, describe this Ice or White Island. It is ruled by the Ice Master Sir-i-Theta, i.e. king Tet. There is an iron chum on the White Island, and all the inhabitants of the island wear iron clothes, boots with iron claws. A thousand bulls graze on White Island. " According to legend, the White Island was swallowed up by the sea, so only the top of the iron plague remained hanging above the water …that on the modern map there is still such an island called White. In the “Book of Veles” about the exodus of the Aryans from the north it is written as follows: “A great cold has come. The forefathers were taken by Yar to the Russian Land, for, if they remained, they would have suffered much from the early cold … We are Aryans who came from the Aryan Land to the Yin Land. Yaruna's sons: Kiy, Schek and Horeb divided into clans and went south and west … After another darkness, there was a great cold, and we set off at noon, because the places are hot. We walked from the Land of Yin past the Land of Farsees."

At present, the hypothesis about the possible existence in warmer ancient times of the island (now the underwater Lomonosov ridge in the Arctic Ocean), which became the prototype of the "abode of the gods", has gained popularity. It was the "Land of the Living", the inhabitants of which did not know either disease or death.

In the messages of ancient authors, the civilization of Hyperboreans is often mentioned, which allegedly once existed in the Far North and became the progenitor of the ancient Aryans. The location of Hyperborea is very vague, no archaeological traces of it have yet been found. Most modern researchers suggest that Hyperborea could be located somewhere in the Russian north. However, the ancient Greek author Diodorus Siculus, who lived in the 1st century BC, with reference to some ancient legends, says in his work “Historical Library”: “… On the Ocean, opposite the country of the Celts, there is an island no less than Sicily. This island lies in the north and is inhabited by the Hyperboreans … the island has excellent, fertile soil, is distinguished by the good air and produces fruits twice a year … There is a beautiful grove on the island dedicated to Apollo, and a remarkable spherical temple decorated with many offerings; there is also a city dedicated to this god … 3. If we take into account the generally accepted statement of historians that the Celts lived in antiquity on the site of modern Germany and France, then opposite the country of the Celts will be the modern island of Great Britain.

The ideas of ancient people about the world around them did not spread far from the center of their residence. In the myth-making of different peoples, "Land of the Gods" - a common name for all lands located far beyond the mountains in the north or where the sun rises, was, as a rule, beyond their reach by mere mortals. For the ancient Greeks, the White Island was located on the Black Sea (Ponte Euxine), near the mouth of the Danube, practically on the edge of the earth. The Greek geographers called all the peoples who lived above Pontus Euxinus, Istra and the Adriatic Sea Hyperboreans. For the ancient Sumerians it was an earthly paradise in Dilmun, according to their version - "the island of the blessed" - this is the modern island of Barhein in the Persian Gulf, it is also the "island of the dead" for the Egyptians. In Indo-Aryan myths, the "radiant island", the ancestral home of the Aryans, was located north of Mount Meru in the polar region of darkness, where the sun only rises once a year. It was from there, as it is reported in the ancient Indian epics "Mahabharata" and "Ramayana", that the Aryans moved after a cold snap to the southern regions. In the Tibetans' view, the "radiant Shambhala" was also located at an inaccessible distance somewhere in the north, next to Mount Meru.
