The abrupt refusal to study the Moon not only by NASA, but also in the USSR causes some bewilderment. One can argue for a long time about whether there were astronauts on the moon, but the automatic stations of the USSR and the USA were definitely there. But why, then, did both superpowers abandon further studies of this celestial body for many years? Who did the ban on this activity come from?
An interesting version of real events is described by the Russian ufologist V. Azhazha in his book "Caution: a flying saucer!" And this is what he writes there:

The fact is that there is still no irrefutable evidence of the stay of American astronauts on the moon, since, for example, within the framework of generally recognized space technologies, the problem of protecting living organisms from radiation when crossing the van Allen belt has not yet been solved. This means that the first part of the story is most likely invented. But the automatic stations on the Moon, both ours and the American ones, really were, which means that the inhabitants of the Moon could well have passed their ban through them, approximately as described above.
But there is another version. Its essence lies in the fact that in addition to the official program of space exploration and the celestial bodies of the solar system, there is also a secret space program, which uses the latest technologies that are hidden from the majority of mankind. The official program itself is used as a "screen" for a secret program. And in this case, astronauts and cosmonauts could well collide with extraterrestrial intelligence on the Moon, Mars and other bodies. And the story described in the book by E. Rice should prepare the minds of ordinary people to realize the fact of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations.
