The famous supervolcano in the American National Park Yellowstone during the eruption could destroy a significant part of the United States. True, the last time a major eruption was 640 thousand years ago, and no one knows when the next one will take place.
Therefore, every change in the activity of the supervolcano is monitored with great concern.
Another reason for concern was given by geologists, who found out that the underground part of the supervolcano has expanded into new territory over the past 20 years.
Satellite images taken in 1994 already showed a pale spot with almost no trees left. The trees could not stand the hot soil and withered. By 2006, the spot continued this trend.
By 2017, this pale green spot had become a completely dead zone, joined by a new zone just to the south.

These frightening changes are reported by the Caldera Chronicles, which maintains regular surveillance of the Yellowstone supervolcano. Under the ground in these zones, new areas with hot springs or geysers are formed, of which there are about 10 thousand throughout the park.
However, experts see little cause for concern. In their opinion, this activity is proceeding in accordance with the expected assumptions. Nevertheless, the United States is actively looking for a way to maximally protect itself from the alleged eruption.
One such method involves drilling a 10-kilometer well and pouring water into it to relieve pressure and cool the supervolcano. The price of this idea is $ 3.46 billion, but so far it is one of the most viable options.
