Researcher Mikhail Raduga in his book "Unknown Nature" is sure that many phenomena occurring in the so-called "dead" or "anomalous" zones are associated with the release of various gases from the Earth's interior.
As the author writes, in fact, most often it is gas that becomes the cause of a disastrous situation in one place or another. In some cases, this is known and everything is clear. For example, this concerns the famous incident at Lake Nyos in Cameroon. Here, on August 21, 1986, a sudden eruption of carbon dioxide (CO2), also known as carbon dioxide, from the bottom, on which gas had accumulated for a long time, killed almost two thousand people.
Or you can remember the perilous caves, which contain a huge amount of toxic gases. You can't go down in them without a gas mask or oxygen cylinder. However, there are also cases where the black spot is determined by the same gas, but this is not known for certain, although there is some evidence.

There is a possibility that in some cases these gases are hallucinogenic in nature. Having breathed them, people see a monster, especially since they know: somewhere it must be.
Among the famous lost places, it is worth noting the Russian Devil's Cemetery and also the Russian Valley of Death (Kamchatka), where gas, directly or indirectly, caused many deaths. The peculiarity of such cases is that, looking around the area, you cannot even assume the presence of a lethal gas in the air. And he appears and kills.

A very simple example: basements are necessarily planned in any residential building. Many people think that their goal is purely technical in nature. However, this is not quite true. Their main purpose is to contain those gases that constantly accumulate there and that come from the ground.
It is for this reason that it is usually forbidden to arrange offices, gyms, etc. in basements. This prohibition is violated, which is why those who then work or study in these premises suffer in the first place. Natural gas may not kill, but it costs nothing to affect the functioning of the body.
Carbon dioxide is generated by the decomposition of organic matter and penetrates underground structures from the soil. Since it is heavier than air, it fills the entire space of the cellar / basement, while it cannot be sniffed or seen: it is colorless and odorless.
You cannot protect yourself from it by covering your mouth and nose with a damp cloth or even a respirator. A person exposed to gas develops shortness of breath, blue lips, chest pain, fainting and loss of consciousness. Convulsions may occur, followed by death.
Also, in the soil, with the slow decomposition of plant substances without air access, methane, or marsh gas, is formed. The scary thing is that at first a person does not feel anything, but after a few minutes a headache, blurred vision, dizziness and nausea appear. And if you delay with the help, do not pull the person in trouble out of such a place, death, no matter how blasphemous it will be said, is guaranteed.
That is why you should especially worry about those places where there is or used to be a swamp. It is the swamps that pose the highest threat in terms of the emission of various natural gases (which is why methane is called bog gas). Failure to understand this fact leads to the emergence of a number of "anomalous" incidents.
Firstly, gases can affect the psyche, and a person "sees" UFOs, ghosts, devils, and so on. It is known, for example, that many "haunted castles" also have a high background of natural gases. Secondly, the real death is the combustible gas.
There is no shortage of such gas: the most common, methane, ignites very well, which is well known to everyone from the example of coal mines. The presence of methane can explain sudden fires and explosions in rooms. Often ufologists see here poltergeist or effects from parallel measurements, but this is unlikely according to experts who understand the gases released by the surface layers of soils.
In nature, methane very often ignites by itself. This is almost always taken as an unkind sign if it happens in the forest and in the dark. After all, the resulting light and cotton can be very frightening.
It is worth noting a curious feature of a typical disastrous "gas" place. Among the people, only those that are in the lowlands are almost always considered as such. There is often a swamp near them or there is an increased air humidity, combined with the saturation of the soil with water.
These descriptions are ideal for trapping gas under these conditions. He can immediately stand out and concentrate in calm weather. How can this affect us? We may faint. We may have nightmares in reality. We may feel sick and in pain. We may have sudden feelings of fear or intense excitement.
By the way, animals, as more sensitive creatures, usually avoid such spaces precisely because of their sense of smell, which is prompted by the presence of dangerous odors that we cannot perceive. In general, if you see a swampy lowland, then keep in mind that this is probably a bad place in which you cannot stay for a long time.
