More than once, Sergei Ryazansky, was the hero of my videos, posts and articles. And then he again came into my field of vision.

This time it will be about his new book: "Is it possible to hammer a nail in space"

The book is devoted to answers to the most frequent questions asked by astronauts.

There is a lot in this book that simply causes laughter, bewilderment, and sometimes makes one wonder about the adequacy of Sergei Ryazansky.

Let me remind you that the book was written by a professional cosmonaut who has completed two flights to the ISS. A person with a higher education in the field of exact sciences, a Hero of Russia and a public figure.

Of course, all the answers to questions about astronautics were given by him as an expert in this field.

There are many questions in the book, as well as answers. However, all answers are based on elementary formulations from encyclopedias and special literature.

There are no extended explanations based on personal experience. Therefore, the book looks too dry and meager.

Promotional video:

Even the page layout leaves much to be desired. In some places, which are not so few, the question and answer take up very little space. As a result, most of the page is left blank. And the next question is transferred to another page.

This style was chosen for a reason. This is necessary in order to visually make the book thicker. Well, if the layout was different, then this whole book would turn into a small brochure.

Surely, you will ask: - Is there a question about the shape of the Earth ???

Yes, there is such a question.

However, Ryazansky gives the expected answer. And of course, it is built on learned phrases and terms.

I suggest looking at this opus. And then, of course, we will discuss.

His answer begins with the story that drops of water in zero gravity take the form of a ball. And that this is due to the surface tension force. An entire paragraph is devoted to what can be seen in documentaries about space.

But then he suddenly summarizes that the Earth is not a liquid body, but a solid one. And that surface tension has nothing to do with it.

Then came the typical information about gravity and mass of bodies.

The reader who bought the book wanted to read the detailed answers from the position of an astronaut, with examples and proofs. But instead, they "screwed a leather bolt" into his ear and "hammered a nail into his head." It seems that the book was written not by an astronaut, but by a person who simply opened the encyclopedia and copied from it what he read there.

Where are my own observations and examples from practice ??? Where is the detailed explanation ??? Where is the opinion of the cosmonaut as a professional ???

And they are not. After all, Ryazansky's goal is not to give detailed answers with a free style of storytelling, but simply to sell himself as a brand. He just released a half-empty book and sold it to gullible admirers of astronauts (- Dad, and where is the sea …)

And now the most important thing:

This hammer of nails placed under his answer an image of the Earth, allegedly taken from distant space. This is how he signed this illustration: "Earth from Deep Space (NASA Photo)"

You had to choose from thousands of other photographs, the most famous in the circles of alternatives !!!

This is the same shot with cloned clouds and surface areas all around:

Collage of the Earth from the curved-hand designer NASA
Collage of the Earth from the curved-hand designer NASA

Collage of the Earth from the curved-hand designer NASA.

That's epic fail !!!

Or maybe he just mocks his readers and deliberately exhibited this particular picture ??? Who knows what's in his head.

On the next page, Ryazansky publishes a drawing with a turtle, elephants and a flat Earth, which the astronaut is looking at through the window. As if making fun of the supporters of the flat earth. But in the end, having published a snapshot of the Earth consisting of cloned regions, he ridiculed not only himself, but the entire cosmonautics in general.

Ryaziansky's book can take a long time to disassemble. But in this article I will only touch on a few selected fragments.

Here's another question and answer:

In his book, Ryazansky repeatedly repeats that astronautics has given a lot to people on Earth. That thanks to space travel and astronauts, we have many technologies that were originally made for the needs of the space industry.

In this example, he gives different arguments and attaches a table with examples.

Let's see what kind of space technologies we use:

Long term weather forecast

That's an achievement !!! Yes, everyone knows that forecasters predict the weather "from the lantern". They promise sun and calm weather for a week, and as a result, cloudy and a hurricane.

Or it even reaches the point of absurdity.

On TV, they show a swindler near a card, who moves his hands and disperses the clouds. Talking about how I have an incredible fever.

And at this time, it rains outside my window and the birds fall from the cold, sticking their beaks into the frozen ground.

Solar panels

Well, here Ryazansky had already put noodles on the ears of people.

What kind of astronautics if solar panels were invented before the era of the first launches ???

Sunglasses

Maybe Ryazansky thinks that astronauts are such important roosters that even sunglasses were once invented for them ???

But alas, I hasten to upset him. Astronautics is also no sideways here:

And so you can make out everything else from the list.

Such nonsense as a high-capacity battery, I will not even disassemble.

As a result, we have the following:

We are not the ones who use space technology. This astronautics uses technologies that were made on Earth and for the Earth.

Also, cosmonaut Ryazansky spoke about how much is spent on space and each cosmonaut:

Fragment of the book.

I don’t understand how you can lie so shamelessly ???

Not only is the amount indicated, which is underestimated several times, but also the period is taken in one year.

And according to Ryazansky, the maintenance of one cosmonaut per year costs only 5 billion 720 thousand rubles.

Here is a chutzpah of pure water.

According to my conservative estimates, with facts, arguments and proofs, in only six months, the maintenance of one cosmonaut costs our budget over 13 billion rubles:

And I have not yet considered many factors that significantly increase the amount I have named.

Output

Ryazansky's book is a dummy that has no information content.

There is no free storytelling, examples from personal experience and detailed answers.

Readers are simply divorced for money.

I don't know if it is possible to hammer a nail in space. But Ryazansky hammers nails into the heads of his readers like a real professional.
