The debate about whether the Earth is flat or round has been going on for many years, but a recent YouGov case study suggests that over the next decades, the bulk of people will consider the Earth flat.
In a sociological study by YouGov, 10,374 respondents were interviewed, the total majority of whom insist on the postulate that the Earth is round. However, the distribution of answers by age category shocked the professor at the US Air Force Academy, who was doing the research.
As the results of a survey among people of the age category over 55 show, 94% are in absolute confidence that our planet is round, while about 15% of people aged 45-54 already doubt this roundness, not to mention that that many are plagued by great doubts about the fact that this planet is ours at all.
And the closer the age of the respondents to the millennial generation, that is, those born around 2000, the more doubts about the Earth's roundness are. So, of people aged 18-24, only 66% of respondents are absolutely sure that the Earth is round. YouGov does not provide survey data for the 14-18 age group, but, given the trend, in this age group, no more than 40% are sure of the Earth's roundness. Therefore, in a few decades, when this generation grows up, the confidence that the Earth will be flat will become total.
Since the professors of the Air Force Academy are classified as “over 55 years old,” their endless surprise at the results of the experience is understandable. They all boil down to the “lack of the education system”, “mass superstitions” and other phenomena they understand. However, in reality, the problem is much deeper and much more serious than it might seem at first glance.
As we have emphasized many times in our materials about the "flat / round Earth" - we are not adherents of any of these theories, to which many are trying to reduce the discussion about the true picture of the world. The world around us is so complex and inexplicable that both modern philosophers and specialists in applied sciences have long suspected that our reality is, as it were, a simulation, on the basis of which disputes about a flat / round Earth become absolutely meaningless. Do not be lazy to follow the link and see: it is not Mexican housewives who have watched videos on YouTube talking about the simulation, but world-famous physicists, mathematicians and astronomers.
Although, of course, all this is perfect does not mean that the theory of virtual reality is the most correct. It is just important to understand that besides the round / flat Earth, there are many other fairly convincing theories and points of view, so opinions about the flat / round Earth are distributed not 50/50, but somewhere 10/10, since the remaining 80% are occupied by other versions and theories …

For example, the Hollow Earth theory, which was studied by the gentlemen from Ahnenerbe. This organization was very serious and very powerful, behind many strange technologies of the Third Reich. That is, there were geologists, and physicists, and mathematicians, according to whose textbooks the entire world professorship of the 1970s studied. And among these people, there was also no consensus either on the shape of the planet, or even on the side on which people live. Some said that we live on the surface of a hollow sphere or even a cylinder, like a gigantic spaceship, others argued that we live on the inner surface of this hollow thing. So who's right? And who of the modern "scientists" will hint that the German professors of the middle of the last century had a type of "lack of education"?
In other words, the topic of a round / flat Earth is very complex and who knows how it really is. Technically, space can be exactly what its astronomy textbooks describe, and the Earth may well be round as geologists believe. But only people live in a small area of this planet, in a round zoo enclosed by a high-tech dome. And no one can either refute or confirm this assumption.
In general, we are people of very broad views and allow all options for explaining the world, also believing that everyone has the right to their point of view. In particular, smart people who believe that the Earth is round have something to say.
The main argument of the supporters of the Flat Earth is based on the fact that NASA's "newsreel" from "space stations" is a fake, in which the ropes, as it were, flying in zero gravity, periodically get out of the back of the astronauts. However, you can look at it from a different angle. For example, think that NASA is deliberately putting on such a show. After all, NASA is a rich and serious organization, capable of making better products than Hollywood. The local OTK might not have seen one or two bloopers, but these bloopers are at every step !? So maybe they are intentional? That is, NASA and its lunar foil modules, bubble-blowing tesloplanes are all a circus in order to convince the masses that space is not real?
Everyone who, in one way or another, watched the disputes between the supporters of the round / flat Earth, could not help but notice that the disputes are always very heated, network opponents practically do not listen to each other's arguments and immediately switches to insults. These opponents are not visible on the Internet, but a YouGov poll clearly shows that a supporter of a round Earth is usually an adult uncle with a serious education, that is, with a head clogged with scientific dogma, who, when he hears about a flat Earth, his roof immediately flies. On the other hand, his opponent is, very often, some young fool who has not heard anything about Jupiter yet, but is absolutely sure that the planet is not round. And these people begin to argue, swear. In the language of special services, this is called the "throw in the cut". That is, to dismember the society by age or other categories into fragments that, by definition, cannot grow together. A simple and effective divide-and-consume program.
The aforementioned “cut”, that is, the fragmentation of society into cells that conflict with each other, is sometimes more global. An example is the legend about the introduction of Christianity in Russia, when the Magi, that is, the carriers of ancient knowledge, were simply cleaned out. Most likely, this is nothing more than a fairy tale for children who believe in the 10th century, in ancient knights sitting in stone castles, who protected these castles from someone there. There are knightly armor in museums, there are also stone fortresses, only there are no traces of repairs after battle damage. That is, no one hit the armor with an ax or a hammer, they never fought in these pieces of iron, and castles and fortresses were never sieged, since there are no signs of repair anywhere after being hit by catapults or cannonballs.
But this is so, by the way. The main thing here is an illustration of a global cleansing of the old before planting something “new, kind, smart, eternal”. For example, as it was after the 1917 revolution, when the Russian intelligentsia was practically killed, preventing the Bolsheviks from raising a new generation of pure proletarian morons. In 1991, everything repeated itself, because the task was to raise the "Pepsi generation", confident that the USSR was a complete suck and not noticing the simple facts that testify to the opposite. For example, when a young adherent of "perestroika" went to the toilet and shit there, the product from his life was diverted through pipes laid in the USSR, which he hated. And what is most interesting: 30 years have passed since the collapse of the USSR, and the sewer pipes are the same everywhere, and they, like everyone else, are used by detractors of the naive builders of socialism.
Now, if we continue to think in this direction further, let's imagine a situation that the older generation of people on the planet suddenly died out as a result of some big and bad events. For example, a World War will take place on the planet or a geological cataclysm will occur, which not all will survive. If this war or cataclysm comes tomorrow, those who are now 10-15 years old (if there is a war) and those who are now 15-30 (if there is a cataclysm) will have the highest chances of survival. When all the years later, in a few years, the demography on the planet will change significantly and the stubborn ones who argued about the round Earth will already be founded. The bulk of the people will be represented by young adherents who have no really useful applied education, but who are confident that the Earth is a flat pancake,floating on the ocean or flying somewhere in space.
Probably, then it will not be at all difficult for these people to sell some other idea. For example, the idea that some "gods" have descended to this flat Earth, whom everyone now needs to love, build temples to them and worship in every way. And everyone will believe, because belief in a flat earth will be generally accepted and, as it were, the most correct. And if someone hints that the Earth is still round, he will be crucified, because the priests of the new faith will say: the atomic bomb that killed billions of people was invented by possessed sorcerers who believed that the Earth was round. Death to the heretic!
This is approximately how everything may one day be, in any case, the YouGov poll shows just such a forecast in the course of events. Therefore, based on the foregoing, we fully admit that the "flat Earth" is another "cut" of the global elites preparing a new generation of citizens of a large global state. However, it is actually flat or round, or we live on a round earth, but under a huge, like the dome described by Stephen King - we do not know this. But - we follow the development of events with interest.
