A detachment of archaeologists in 1993, led by the scientist Natalya Polosmak, took up excavations on the Ukok plateau, practically no one, of course, except Natalya herself, had any hope of finding anything worthwhile and interesting. This lonely mound on the border was completely turned over and dug up. But, as it turned out, the scientist's instinct did not disappoint her.

We dug long enough. In the beginning, scientists got to the finds used in the Iron Age. But they decided not to stop there, and their work was rewarded with a precious find. A sarcophagus made of larch was found under the ceiling of several wooden planks. The entire sarcophagus was filled up, since the waters of the underground penetrated there and bound it with a centuries-old layer of ice so that it had to be thawed for days. Archaeologists worked tirelessly, they were eaten by curiosity, it would be faster to get to the contents.

When the ice was finally melted, the body of a young woman was found, well preserved thanks to the low temperature. It turned out, as scientists later found out, this is the body of a young lady about 25 years old. It was stored for a long 2500 years.

As the Altaians say, the priestess guarded the gates of the underworld so that the unclean spirits would not break free and rampage. And so it turns out, when the mummy was dug up, the ground around it trembled, and the helicopter on which it was transported made an emergency landing several times. Cataclysms on the Altai land really fell like a horn of plenty. An earthquake, a severe hail, an increased number of suicides in the region, and finally, a severe flood. It turns out that all the troubles that have fallen on the Altai land are the revenge of the White Lady.

On top of that, a prediction was made by a certain little girl from a nearby village, allegedly before the excavation began. She confidently declared that scientists would disturb the grave of a noble priestess, who would curse the Altai land for this.

Now the mummy of the "Altai princess" is in the city of Gorno-Altaysk in the museum named after Anokhin, which has been completely restored. In a special sarcophagus, in which she rests, a special temperature and humidity regime is maintained.
