Nobody wanted to fight
Recall that the First World War happened "out of stupidity." On June 28, 1914, a 19-year-old Serbian student, Gavrilo Princip, kills the heir to the Austrian throne, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife Sofia with shots at point-blank range in Sarajevo. Austria-Hungary, not wanting to understand, immediately declares war on Serbia. Russia stands up for the protection of the "Slavic brothers", and Germany - for Austria-Hungary, and, as they say, "it started." The United States entered the war in 1917, when peace was only one year away. In total, more than 30 countries participated in the conflict. It was conducted, in addition to Europe, in Asia, Africa and all oceans. About 17 million people died, of which about two million were Russians.
The United States became the beneficiary of the war, which raised its economy on loans from destroyed Europe (including the Bolsheviks). By the way, the Second World War ended with the same outcome. The Bretton Woods system provided the US dollar with global hegemony, and the Marshall Plan provided loans to Europe. You can understand our outrage when Donald Trump declares that the United States won two world wars and defeated communism. But in essence it is. The hegemony of the United States in the 90s of the last century was beyond doubt.
But today she is under threat. America has accumulated such debts that when Trump announced his intention to start paying them off, many laughed: $ 21 trillion is not realistic. But if you make enemies out of creditors, then you can cancel the debts by the right of the winner in the third world war. And then again to distribute loans to destroyed Europe.

The war has been preparing for a long time - by the advancement of NATO to the East. Poles, Balts want to see American bases on their territory, Ukrainians want to join NATO. The Czech Republic and Romania are eager to host the American missile defense system. Military exercises are getting bigger, and hybrid wars are getting tougher. Vladimir Putin feels these preparations, as they say, "in his gut", he says all the time that a world without Russia "we do not need" and if "they are in hell, then we are in heaven."
More recently, Donald Trump has taken a decisive step - announced his withdrawal from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (MIDRM). Berlin urged Trump to think carefully, France to be careful, but London supported. The Russian president tried hot on the heels to meet with Trump in Paris (just on November 11), but he was politely stopped. And Emmanuel Macron spoke about the fact that Europe needs its own army. This is no accidental statement either.
But war, like any world war, will not be limited to Europe. The Americans are playing for a long time against China, the main holder of American debts (in fact, if he dumps them, then America will die without a war). Beijing is armed with the very same medium-range missiles that will strike American planes from a distance and threaten the viability of nuclear-armed aircraft carriers. China already has a dispute with the United States over the islands in the South China Sea, where they are "elbowing" at the level of warships.
Will Beijing compromise on the return of SMRs to Europe? Hard to believe.

Even if Trump doesn't want war, he will not be allowed not to. Hysteria around Russia in the United States today is simply off scale. But in Russia, the writer Alexander Prokhanov spoke two days ago about the inevitability of a war with Ukraine on one of the central TV channels. Or, for example, you can organize the assassination of a Western politician. It is no coincidence that it became known about the impending assassination attempt on Macron.
We can only guess when and under what pretext the hybrid war will develop into a hot one. In 1914, politicians in Europe did not want war, but they did everything to start it. Then the Americans only successfully "hurried in advance". Or not already? But today they are already a clear organizing force.
