A group of scientists from the Consortium for the Genetic Study of Anthropometric Traits has revealed the secret of human growth. As established in the course of research, growth depends on genetic characteristics and the presence of one of the variations can affect two centimeters.
During the study, scientists have identified more than 700 diverse combinations of genes that affect human growth. Yet the predominant part of them does not so much affect the difference, even a few millimeters. This is due to the location of genes outside the boundaries of the coding regions of DNA. Therefore, it was important for biologists to study a rarer variant of a combination of genes.
Scientists have analyzed more than 700 thousand DNA and found more than 80 of its changes. Most of these DNA kits increase or decrease a person's height by two centimeters, and this is already considered a significant advantage over the previously studied variations. Such genes are able to influence the growth of cartilage and bone tissue, and are also important for the production of growth hormones.
The results obtained make it possible to conclude that heredity has an effect on human growth in 25% of cases.
