In ancient Indian treatises, there are many descriptions of various weapons, the crushing power of which far exceeds even modern types of weapons. We have already written about the vajra, as well as the radioactive brahmashiras - the arrow of death that destroys a person without a trace. No less mysterious was the narayanastra - the personal weapon of the god Vishnu.

These weapons are millions of projectiles fired simultaneously. Here is how the ancient myths describe the use of narayanastra in the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas:

“Meanwhile, Narayana's secret weapon entered the battle. The air was filled with arrows that resemble a serpent with a flaming mouth. Iron balls and discs with razor sharp edges appeared. Whenever the Pandavas tried to repel this weapon, its effect was intensified. Cut into pieces, burned, pressed from all sides, the Pandavas fled. But there is no escape from the heavenly weapons. You cannot hide from him in caves or houses, if they were nearby. Arrows, balls, discs changed direction, following their victims."

It is curious that the number of shells and their power increased in direct proportion to the resistance offered to them. The only way to escape this weapon is to stop resisting it. Interestingly, the narayanastra could only be used once in a war. When attempting to re-use it, it hit the army to which the warrior who called it belonged.
