Vitamins are present in food supplements for vape mixes that are toxic if inhaled and can kill a person if they accumulate in the lungs.

The New York State Health Organization (USA) said it found high levels of vitamin E acetate in lung fluid samples taken from vape lovers. This ingredient can be toxic if inhaled and injure the lungs.

The researchers found that vitamin E acetate, used as a dietary supplement, was present in every lung fluid sample taken from 29 vape smokers with lung disease. Vitamin E acetate is also found in some skin care products for which it is beneficial, but is toxic if inhaled.

In 29 patients from 10 states, vitamin E acetate was the only chemical found in all fluid samples. Most of the patients reported smoking vapes. The rest smoked electronic cigarettes. There were no other ingredients found in the vaping fluids in the lung fluid samples.

Now doctors intend to find out exactly how vitamin E acetate harms the lungs.

To date, there are 2,051 registered people in the United States suffering from lung disease due to the use of vapes. 39 people with this diagnosis have already died.
