A UFO, or unidentified flying object, is something moving in the sky that cannot be explained. Many times these objects turned out to be satellites, meteorological balloons or airplanes, but individual cases still remain a mystery. According to some earthlings, UFOs are actually alien spaceships.
In Canada, as in other parts of the planet, cases of the appearance of unidentified flying objects have been recorded more than once, but two of them are considered the most famous.
UFO incident at Shag Harbor
In October 1967, the night sky over the small fishing village of Shag Harbor, Nova Scotia, was lit up with bright lights that flashed on and off. All this happened until the moment when a huge round object crashed into the water in the Gulf of Maine and disappeared into the ocean. Eyewitnesses reported that at first they heard a hissing sound, which increased and, finally, a loud explosion was heard.

At least eleven people observed the UFO, which continued to glow in the water for some time. Rescue services, having received information from eyewitnesses, began to search for the ship, believing that the plane had crashed. Nothing was found. Divers also explored the seabed but found nothing. No aircraft were reported missing. Both civilian and military authorities in Canada were involved in the investigation of the incident. Ultimately, this one of the few cases was officially recorded in government documents as a UFO sighting.
Shag Harbor now has a UFO center and hosts a festival every summer to celebrate the incident.

Falcon Lake, Manitoba
1967 was a year full of UFO sightings in Canada. On May 20, another sighting occurred, this time 150 km east of the city of Winnipeg.
Amateur geologist Stefan Michalak, while searching for valuable stones on the shores of Falcon Lake (Falcon), noticed 2 strange objects in the sky. He was not frightened, thinking that these were military aircraft. The man managed to sketch one of the objects after he landed nearby.
The UFO was disc-shaped, about 12 meters in diameter. The color changed from reddish orange to gray, and when the object landed on the ground, the color changed to the color of hot stainless steel with a golden glow around. The outgoing light from the object blinded Stefan's eyes and was saved by the fact that he was wearing protective welding goggles, which he wore to protect his eyes from stone fragments. The man approached the "ship" and noticed bright lights from the open door. He heard voices similar to human ones. The geologist looked inside the machine and asked in English: “Okay, Yankee boys, having trouble? Come on out and we'll see what we can do about it. " Suddenly the voices died down, and Stefan never received an answer.
Through the open door, Stefan caught sight of a panel with indicators that came on and off at random. Suddenly the entrance to the machine was closed. The UFO looked carefully polished with no seams. Touching its surface with a gloved hand, the man pulled it back, as it began to melt.
The apparatus turned around, and before the observer there appeared something like a vent grating from which hot air burst out. Michalak's shirt caught fire and he abruptly tore it off. The object took off and disappeared into the sky.
When Stefan returned home, he found net burns on his chest.
The man felt nausea and a headache attack, after which he was taken to the hospital. According to radiologist Horace Dudley, what happened to the geologist is a classic case of radiation sickness. In the next two years, his condition was studied not only by Canadian, but also by American doctors.
During the investigation of the incident, molten pieces of metal were found at the UFO landing site, as well as burnt clothes of the geologist.
Although Stefan never claimed to have seen aliens, this incident is considered one of the documented UFO encounters in Canada.
