The road from huge ideally cut slabs is located in the Tarasovsky district of the Rostov region. Stumbled upon it by chance in the 90s, local people who mined sand here. They also called there archaeologists, who were just conducting surveys nearby. It was in 1992 and archaeologists investigated this road, promised to return, but never appeared again.

M. Kraisvetny (archaeologist) described this place when he saw it for the first time:

We saw an area that really resembles a road made of slabs of stone - quartzite sandstone. But the only thing is that the soil layer in which that "road" lay, belongs to the Middle Eocene - the period … 40-50 million years ago. But then there were no people on Earth. Primitive man appeared, according to official data, 2 million years ago.

Plates are firmly fitted to each other. If some of them are irregular, a pebble of the right size was inserted between them. Many slabs were as if cut out to fit a ruler. Secondly, the ends of the slabs (and the sandstone is rough!) For some reason were smooth, as if polished. I was climbing, feeling these plates with bewilderment. I said to myself: "This is impossible!" And thirdly … On some of the slabs were applied (more precisely, carved in stone or vice versa - as if squeezed out by something from the inside) drawings. These were parallel lines or 2-3 circles inscribed one into the other. The impression was that someone took a compass and drew it all.

A road paved with rectangular stone slabs runs across a small sandy quarry … There are strange patterns on the surface of the slabs, and the side edges are shiny and even, as if they were sawn out by some unknown tools from the hardest quartzite sandstone and then polished … Moreover, the slabs are so good between themselves are fitted so that a pocket knife will not creep into the seams. In addition, some joints could not be explained by anything other than a deliberate adjustment of the plates to each other … And most importantly. Taking into account the geology of this place, the age of the plates should be about 50 million years …

The patterns found on that road in the Tarasovsky region, in part, resemble the images on the famous, also incomprehensible megalithic monument - a rock near Achnabrek in England.

Unfortunately, with regard to the fate of the Don road, there is nothing to brag about. She, in fact, has sunk into oblivion. Soon the most interesting slabs disappeared: some of them inadvertently split, and most of them were taken away. Although these studies needed to be continued.

In 2009, Kraisvetny informed a group of familiar local historians about that old find, indicated the place, and then I bring their story.

On the first try, we miss the sought-for quarry - it is against the sun, and in the heat of the moment we slip into the neighboring one … But there are slabs there too … Examining, marveling … Really unusual, I have never seen this … Accidentally put the ruler on the other side, inches … Yes, there is some pattern on the surface of the slabs … some grooves …

Michael is calling us from somewhere above. Dima goes to the car, and Alexander and I climb over the hillock and … we see the place that is shown in the photographs of 1992 …

The slabs in the quarry have decreased - the transportable size and shape clearly affected, I suppose the zealous local residents over the past 17 years have grown them for use in private households. This is what Mikhail Ivanovich feared; however, the relative remoteness from settlements and some secrecy of the quarry saved this place from final ruin. The rare attendance of this place can be judged by the local fauna, represented by very small foxes, who watched our fuss with interest …

I begin to carefully examine the slabs. Alexander set about cleaning the surface. Mikhail and Dmitry are examining the surroundings, collecting rock samples, fixing features … Digging, photographing, measuring, collecting, chipping away, digging in, scooping, scraping, digging, climbing …

On the western side - from the country road, the slabs were thoroughly pulled apart, only "substandard" fragments remained. They are useful - they are free of sand and you can carefully examine their surface. And the surface is interesting - there are some patterns on it … I wonder if they can be compared with the patterns on the megalithic rock monument near Achnabrek in England, mentioned by J. Wood in the book "The Sun, Moon and Ancient Stones" (Moscow, 1981). A very tempting assumption about their similarity and purpose … Yes, it is worth considering …

And again - the parallelism of the lines is surprising; the same picture with reliable repeatability and on other fragments … Meanwhile, Alexander cleared the remaining part, and I climbed to the highest point to photograph.

The whole team gathers and discusses what we saw … It is clear that the material of the slabs is drainage quartz sandstone, covered from above with sediments with numerous remains of fauna, by which specialists can determine the age of the slabs. And we can guess - this sequence of rocks is described by geologists as the Buchak Stage, belonging to the Middle Eocene, that is, the age of the plates is about 44 million years …

I am amazed at the sharp right angles of most seams or cracks. How do you like the 8-meter straight "crack"? There are other chips along smooth, curved lines, but most are at right angles. And the patterns are interesting … The patterns are in the upper layer, they cannot be attributed to some later influences - I specially dug out several slabs located aside from the developed section of the quarry - the same parallel grooves, sometimes crossed out with the same … The side surfaces of the slabs are the same everywhere, shiny quartzite sandstone, heterogeneous in depth - it starts from a surface with patterns; this surface layer takes four centimeters and then smoothly turns into a homogeneous drain sandstone. At the bottom, on some slabs, the sandstone turns into an almost homogeneous gray quartzite …

We go deeper, under the slabs … A few centimeters of orange, ferruginous sand - and the opoka-like rock begins. Some of the guys say - the ancient builders of the road did everything right - they put the slabs on a sand cushion in order to better align …

PS:

For many years I have been trying to find out the exact coordinates of this road, but so far I have not been able to do this. Kraisvetny keeps the location secret, and the people who visited it on his tip in 2009 did not publish any more articles about it and did not want to give the coordinates to anyone.

Imagine such an artifact - whose road is at least 44 million years old! It must be studied, documented, and these "archaeologists" hide everything …

According to the most conservative estimates, this road existed 38 million years before, according to the assurance of official science, man appeared on Earth.
