Many places on the planet are actively explored by humans. This is especially true in densely populated areas: China, USA, Europe. Many ancient structures, which may have come to us from another civilization, have already been lost, or their traces can only be traced from space images. But where a person has not reached due to the complexity (or unsuitability) of the territory - you can see these traces of past human activities.
Shalbernik's message prompted me to pay attention to these places:
This time we will walk through the wetlands of the east of the North American continent. I will add that the east coast of North America is a shelf, because continental crust. Only far into the sea does the bottom become oceanic and the depths increase significantly.
Let's start in the south. State of North Carolina. There is such a dam:
Promotional video:

Official Information: In 1881, the US Army Corps of Engineers built this wall to aid navigation. This wall is called The Rocks. Length - more than five kilometers
Why was it built? Studying from above, I did not understand its purpose. Protection against flooding of some land area?
Maybe these are the remnants of something older that the rulers of the newly formed country appropriated for themselves?
Considering the rise in the level of the world ocean, earlier this wall-dam could just serve as protection against flooding, storms, and tides. But if the South American Indian (and their ancestors) official history allowed the construction of megalithic structures, then who built it on this continent?
In places the dam looks like a monolith. And most likely, time has turned this monolith into this:
Take a closer look at the joints of the masonry - in places where erosion has not worked so well, it is curvilinear, as when pouring or laying plastic mass!
Remember the article when bas-reliefs were found on the rocks of the breakwaters on the beach in New York?
On the beach, the breakwaters are made in the form of piled stone blocks, a rock. And here, on this dam (or also wave protection) - all the blocks were either carefully laid or block-cast. The approach to work is completely different.
We move to the north. We come across a rectilinear channel that runs along the coast, but inland:
34 ° 17 '28.03 "N 77 ° 44' 50.06" W Ref
It doesn't sound like a river. The channel runs strictly along the coast. While the rivers flow to the ocean
Its length is about 150 km. For the most part of its length, the canal consists of rectilinear sections of the path:
In fact, it is a fairway for inland navigation.
The canal falls into one with the wetland. If it was dripped in our time, then where is the entire volume of soil from dredging works?
The channel width is 60-70m on average. For shipping, consisting of small vessels, boats are too many. This is the width of a great river.
The width of the canal is as for the heavy traffic of a whole flotilla of ships and boats.
Can you imagine the amount of land work? Where are the dumps?
On the right, there may be islands of filled soil from dredging.
Here's what was found further along the route along this channel to the north:

This looks like flooded areas but previously inhabited. Look - you can see at regular intervals either planted trees, like near houses in villages, or remnants, mounds from the ruins of buildings.
Smaller canals were dug. Transport system, waterways of the ancient city? American Venice?
This place is adjacent to a modern settlement:
These flooded settlements continue along the canal.
When did these settlements flood? In historical time? Are there any references in the archives? If there are people from the USA reading this article, can you find out this information?
Link to the map.
A little deep into the sea, such formations were found:
Link. There is also shallow water here. It looks like the marking of the same quarters, but long since flooded by the sea.
We are moving even further north.
Link. Again, the quarter markings of the former settlements, which went under water, swamped
But these are all small suburbs of the ancient metropolis. We look:
Link. This is an area of about 10x10 km, we bring it closer:
We see a continuous marking, consisting of already overgrown and boggy canals. Why were they made? Did people live here before, or did they breed something? This is too large in area of the territory not to be known about if it was inhabited!
Another place, an area of about 3x2 km.
Link. Some curvilinear channels are still visible inside the quarters.
Another area with canals.
And further. Link.
Now it looks like this from the ground. You can only see the markings from a height
Now, attention … Everyone remembers the article showing a place in Florida, where modern builders equip modern one-story cities on the site of ancient settlements? Look, here this contrast between ancient and modern is even clearer:
39 ° 34 '7.63 "N 74 ° 22' 42.11" W The town is called Mystic Island. Link. I can’t believe that this is a territory with ancient markings of canals and the remains of buildings (trees), see:
Area of the territory: approximately 6x2.5 km.
Inside the quarters there were some other ponds with smaller channels extending from them.
And here is how this area was equipped with modern houses with an individual pier. And this is not a tribute to fashion, but, most likely, a recreation of the past.
East of the town. The markup from the channels is already worse.

Not all places were equipped, I think many canals can be viewed from the ground.
Link. Part of the territory, consisting of marking with canals, with an area of 6x3 km.
Again, something ancient is being transformed into modern buildings. But the channel markings are preserved. Link.
Old poles from power lines fell on one of the swampy fields.
39 ° 55 '29.82 "N 74 ° 6' 49.92" W Was it just recently, about 100 years ago, residential quarters that went under water?
A clear example of markup from channels. Link.

"American Venice".
Who dug it all and when? As it is clear that it was a long time ago. Have you drained the swamps or are you marking residential areas with canals?

Link. This is already north of New York.
Link.
In general, all this can be traced along almost thousands of kilometers of the eastern coast with different canal markings in areas.
Link. To the north, in the floodplains of rivers, such markings are also found. They look like this:
Perhaps these canal streams served to drain excess water from the river floodplain. But could the coastal areas near the sea be drained in this way, for example, by farmers just to grow grass for livestock feed?
43 ° 2 '56.00 "N 70 ° 43' 40.00" W
Most likely, these small streams for water drainage are the work of farmers in the past, but what about the canals, which are much larger and were clearly intended for water transport?
But when did everyone do it?
