Nigerians witnessed an unusual phenomenon, accompanied by a bright flash of light and "deafening noise".
In parts of Osogbo, the capital of Osun state, panic arose when strange lighting suddenly appeared in the sky. It was so bright that it caused some residents to flee for cover.
Tribune Online reports that most of the affected areas, where flash light appeared on Tuesday night, include Alecuvodo, Oke Fia, Olaya and parts of Estate.
The incident, which took place at around 9:30 p.m., sparked fear as some people living in these areas also claimed to have heard a deafening sound, similar to a loud explosion, that forced them to leave their homes to investigate the cause of the strange phenomenon.
A resident of Petra Ajibola Street, identified as Titilai Adekunl, said: “We do not know what really happened. We just saw a bright light that appeared suddenly. And he appeared in the sky, turning night into day, because it was already completely dark.
According to her, “we also heard some kind of continuous sound, similar, for example, to the operation of an electrical transformer, which hums at a frantic pace.
Some people said, "Maybe this is the coming of Jesus?" “However, within five minutes, the sudden illumination disappeared and darkness enveloped the city again.”
The authorities have not yet provided an explanation for the mysterious phenomenon.
