When visiting the ancient Greek city of Athens, the ancient philosopher Athenodorus found a house of considerable size for himself to stay in. At the same time, it should be noted that this mansion was rented out for an amazingly cheap rent. Wanting to find out what is actually the matter, the sage decided to find out from the people living in the neighborhood. And he was able to establish an important reason: all people who wanted to rent the mansion were frightened by the ghost of a terrible person, very reminiscent of a skeleton. The ghost's emaciated limbs were bound by heavy chains that made terrible sounds as it moved.
These iron shackles had a rusty coating and were covered with dirt. At just one meeting with a ghost, the guests of the house stood on end hair and blood cold. That is why they, without a second hesitation, left their new home.
However, the ancient thinker Athenodorus decided that he simply needed to accept the challenge. For this, the sage rented this house with a ghost. On the very first night, Athenodorus did not go to bed, but began to wait for a terrible ghost. Bringing was not long in coming. Indeed, the neighbors did not deceive the philosopher - the ghost appeared out of thin air. The silence was broken by the rumble of iron shackles, but the ancient Greek thinker did not even attempt to escape. Then the ghost began to call him, as if asking to follow him. The philosopher was not frightened and went after the ghost, which came out of the house into the street, dragging iron shackles with it. Suddenly, in the middle of the courtyard, the ghost suddenly stopped, looked at the philosopher and suddenly disappeared into thin air.
Remembering the place where the ghost disappeared, the philosopher asked permission from the owner of the ominous mansion to examine the soil under the stone slab. In this very place, human bones were found entangled in iron chains. These shackles were covered with a rusty coating. The human remains were then buried in the ground following proper customs. Since that time, the terrible ghost has never been seen again. And after that, of course, the owner of the house increased the rent.
