Police in Wichita, Kansas, have launched an investigation into “loud booms” over or under the city, reports of which flooded local social networks and overheated police phones.

According to early reports, it started around 2:00 pm on Saturday. Moreover, the mysterious "boom" was heard everywhere, including in the suburbs of Wichita.

The police say that they investigated the entire city and its surroundings, but never found anything. The only thing that investigators assure is that this loud boom was not an explosion. However, they are still investigating what caused this uproar.

Zoe Flippin, a bartender from Takeria County, told our reporters that she was one of the first to call the police:

“At first I thought that there was some kind of industrial disaster or there was a big accident nearby. I went to look out the window, but everything was absolutely calm there,”says Flippin.

The owner of a nearby barber shop, Robert Robinson, heard much the same thing:

“We could even feel the air pressure from the blast when we heard this noise. The ground and all the buildings shook. Visitors immediately thought it was some kind of bomb,”says Robinson.

Reports of loud “booms” were received from outside the city as well. People who live in Clearwater, Derby, Eureka and the surrounding areas have also heard booms - as if they were the thunders of a severe thunderstorm.

Luke Henwood, who lives in Andover, says his garage has jumped up. And all social networks wrote the same thing on Saturday.

“It would be interesting to know some official explanation of what is happening, since my wife, who hears all this but sees nothing, is already starting to go crazy, not understanding what is happening,” Henwood said in an interview.

Editorial comment

Mysterious, incomprehensible "booms" both over North America and elsewhere have been observed not for the first or last time. And in all these cases, the officials shrug their shoulders, saying that they “do not understand what is happening”.

Sometimes people are held up for idiots by telling them about jet planes breaking the sound barrier. There is a certain number of cretins in any society - this is the law of statistics, so someone may believe in airplanes. However, the rest are asking questions.

Therefore, the first more or less intelligible explanation of the officials was an attempt to weave a meteorite to the “booms”, which really seemed to be in Kansas:

However, there is no video or even verbal descriptions of the meteorite - everyone reports only about the “boom” or “booms”. Meanwhile, the explosion of a meteorite, which makes buildings shake within a radius of 100 kilometers, should be visible even during the day.

The second explanation offered by the officials is an earthquake. There were indeed seismic shocks there on Saturday, but very weak at other times:

So it was neither a meteorite nor an earthquake. But what then?

There are only two possible explanations:

a) Either all these are apparatus of some "Martians" or apparatus of the military;

b) Either the sound is really caused by an earthquake, but an earthquake in Kansas, but some activity on the New Madrid fault, which is observed in adjacent areas all week:

If the latter assumption is correct, then New Madrid, it seems, is about to flinch slightly and the first ones flew to Kansas, while the sonic swallows.

Nevertheless, it seems to us that the version of the “Martians” is still more probable, and since they made noise again, it means that we need to wait in Kansas or in general in the USA for some events.
