In Japan, there is a mysterious forest, which locals call the "Suicide Forest". It happens that when entering the dense thickets of the forest, an involuntary fear is felt in the soul. On the brightest day, it is not very bright. Making his way through the rubble of trees, a lone traveler tries to get out to a place more convenient for walking as soon as possible. And when he gets lost, he is terrified and panics. Fear is a bad ally for a traveler.

There are forests on Earth with mystical places in them. In Japan, this is considered Aokigahara - a forest on the island of Honshu, located near Mount Fuji. The ghosts of dead people "live" in that mysterious forest. Where did they come from there? The Japanese once (in the Middle Ages) carried the ailing old people into this forest to die. This usually happened during times of famine. At the same time, babies were dragged there if the family could not feed them. Since then, the spirits of those who have died in the forest have been "caught" by lost travelers.

Translated from Japanese, the word "Jukai" sounds like "forest of death". The Japanese call this forest “Suicide Forest”. Suicide often occurs in that place. Mostly people are hanged from tree branches. The bodies of suicides sometimes take a long time to clean up and are difficult to find. You can "meet" in the forest with a skeleton hanging from a tree or with a dilapidated corpse. Policemen comb the forest annually in autumn, but not all the dead are found, because in the last few years alone more than five hundred Japanese have committed suicide there. Police “booty” averages 50 corpses for each raid.

Why did the suicides choose Aokigahara? It is quiet in the forest, it seems to a person walking along it that someone is also following him. And at night you can hear the screams of the dead, which is very scary. The compass in that place (with an area of several tens of square kilometers) does not help to orient oneself to the cardinal points, there is a strong magnetic anomaly under the forest. There are many caves in the ground under the forest, stretching for hundreds of meters.

Walking through the Japanese forest near Fujiyama, you can step on a human bone. It will break underfoot like a tree branch. Tourists are advised to move strictly along the paths. Rolling off them, you can easily get lost. To climb into a dark thicket, and even stumble upon a corpse or a human skeleton in it - what could be worse than that!

Still, Aokigahara is a popular weekend getaway for the Japanese, despite its sinister reputation. Take food with them for picnics. But they are in the forest only until evening. Potential lone suicides that appear in the forest are taken into account. Such people are usually dressed in suits and walk along the paths, choosing places that are deaf. Financial distress is often the reason for suicide.
