In South Africa, a man lived for four days with a 10-centimeter blade in his skull, waiting for the operation. This was reported by the Daily Mail.

The incident took place in the city of Johannesburg. A 25-year-old drunk African got into a fight in a bar, protecting a friend, and the enemy stuck a knife in his left eye socket. After that, the man went home to sleep. Later friends came to him and persuaded him to see a doctor. He himself did not remember that he was stabbed in the face with a knife, and complained to the doctors only of a headache and discomfort in his left eye when moving.

X-rays showed that the man had a blade in his head. The knife did not move, as it rested on the bone. The African had to wait a day until the hospital bed was vacated, and then another two days to wait in line for angiography - an X-ray of blood vessels. She showed that the blade did not damage any of the major arteries.

Ophthalmologists, otolaryngologists, maxillofacial surgeons and neurosurgeons participated in the operation to extract the blade. The operation was successful, the doctors removed the blade from the man's skull without damaging his blood vessels. To do this, they had to temporarily sew up his eye.

The patient stated that he decided to share his story to "warn people against unnecessary heroism." He admitted that he was very lucky to survive and thanked the doctors.
