Lews was returning home when several men attacked him: the criminals took the guy's wallet and pushed him into the road, right under the wheels of a 15-ton truck.

The driver of the car did not notice that he had hit a man and continued to drive, dragging the lifeless body behind him. When the ambulance crew arrived at the scene, Lewis was already dead.

The doctors had to carry the guy's body into the car on a blanket, as doctors were afraid that some organs might fall out of Lews's torn body.

“When I arrived there, the young man had already passed away. I had never seen a more terrible picture: everything was covered in blood, and a huge piece of skin was ripped off the human body. The intestines were ruptured, as was the bladder, - says Paramedic Foxter on the terrible watch.

Despite injuries incompatible with life, doctors tried to resuscitate the victim of the attack: the dejected doctors were preparing to record the time of the guy's death, when suddenly one of them felt for a pulse.

Upon arrival at the hospital, Lewis's heart stopped again, but the resuscitation team successfully coped with the task and again returned the guy from the other world.

“He suffered from tremendous blood loss, severe head injuries, a fractured pelvis and a torn muscle in his right limb. We had to insert a titanium plate into the guy's skull to maintain the shape of the head,”says one of the neurosurgeons who operated on Godfrey.

“When we first arrived at the hospital, we were allowed to be with our son for only a few minutes. He was hooked up to a life support machine and IVs, and bandages covered his entire body. I took my child by the hand and whispered to him not to give up,”says Lewis's father.

For 16 days the young man was in a coma, and his parents were told that he would never be able to walk and, possibly, speak or see, due to significant brain damage.

Once again, Lewis surprised the hospital staff: he learned to walk, talk and eat independently. Only five months have passed since the attack and the subsequent accident, and the 23-year-old is already planning to return to work.

“The most terrible news for me was the words of doctors that I would not be able to walk. I did not want to put up with the fate of a disabled person and tried to work out my legs as much as I could. Six months later I succeeded - I was able to move independently again. I was lucky: I was looked after by real professionals. Without them I would hardly have survived,”the guy with an incredible thirst for life says with a sad smile.
