Chinese archaeologists have made a sensational find. They found three dumplings in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which had lain in the ground for almost 1.7 thousand years. Historians are proud to talk about how long ago the country began to prepare "jiaozi", Xinhua reports.

Excavations were carried out in the urban district of Turpan. According to archaeologists, the dumplings that have survived to this day could have been prepared during the Three Kingdoms (220-280 years) during the reign of the Qin dynasty (265-420 years). According to another version, the dish was intended for representatives of the Southern and Northern Dynasties (420-589 years).

Interestingly, in addition to these dumplings, archaeologists found other "jiaozi" in Turfan, which were made a little later, during the Tang dynasty (618-907). The ancient food has been preserved so well that historians were even able to determine that the dumplings were made from wheat flour and meat. In shape, each of them resembles a month. Each jiaozi is 5 centimeters long and 1.5 centimeters wide.

According to historians, this find once again proves that culinary traditions in China have long spread from east to west.
