It would seem that they have already been fairly well studied by people and can hardly surprise us with anything, but in nature there are individuals that can shock with their size. One of these jellyfish was recently seen by a TV presenter named Lizzie Daly - the discovered individual reached the size of an adult.
The giant jellyfish was discovered by accident when Lizzie was snorkeling on the coast of the English city of Falmouth. When she swam to the beautiful and grandiose creature, she realized that it has a truly huge body. Cameraman Dan Abbott was able to capture the TV presenter and the unusual aquatic inhabitant, who shared that he had never seen a jellyfish of this size.

According to biologists, a barrel jellyfish turned out to be in front of the researchers of the sea. At the time of birth, its length is only a few millimeters, but over time it grows up to one and a half meters in length and can weigh up to 35 kilograms. Usually this type of jellyfish is found in the Black, Azov, Mediterranean and Adriatic seas and feeds on fish and other small aquatic life.
Researchers believe that the jellyfish was able to grow to such a huge size due to the fact that she lived in the vast open sea. If her habitat was limited, for example, by an aquarium, she would remain small. It is noteworthy that it is better not to approach the jellyfish, because they can leave painful burns on the body.

There is a moment in history when people managed to meet an even larger jellyfish. This event took place in 1870, when the body of the so-called cyane was thrown onto the coast of North America. The length of the tentacles of this sea giant reached 36 meters, and the diameter of the dome was more than two meters. It is believed that this jellyfish was larger than the largest animal on the planet - the blue whale, which is about 25 meters long.
