Strange drawings on the site of the former jungle are found every day
Scientists believe they have stumbled upon traces of an extinct civilization
Strange "arts" for millennia hid in the impenetrable thickets. But they were knocked out. And the drawings became visible.
“Discoveries come one after another,” says Denise Schaan of the Federal University of Pará in Belém, Brazil. - Images, the so-called geoglyphs (geoglyphs), are visible even on images from space (Google Earth images). Already found 260 items. These are lines and geometric shapes: squares, polygons, concentric circles. They seem to be squeezed out into the soil.
The "ditches" forming the geoglyphs are about 11 meters wide. The depth is from one to two meters. The sizes of the figures are from 90 to 300 meters.
According to scientists, the first drawings appeared about 2 thousand years ago, the last - in the XIII century AD. They were made by representatives of an unknown civilization who lived here. But for some mysterious purpose. Like the drawings on the Nazca plateau.
Most of the Amazonian geoglyphs are oriented strictly to the north and are executed with great precision. And there is a hypothesis that they were somehow used for astronomical observations or measurements.
Some objects of the ancient Inca civilization are located about 200 kilometers from the drawings. But, surprisingly, nothing to relate to them was found here.
