The disappearance of people is quite common, but the disappearance of 47-year-old Kenny Veech can indeed be called inexplicable. There are many questions and few answers in the search case.
Kenny, who loved hiking, disappeared on Monday 10 November 2014. He told his family that he was going on a "short night trip" to the Sheep Mountains in Nevada. Kenny was a courageous explorer, and he entered every cave he met, but the one he had found a month earlier in the Mojave Desert, near Nellis Air Force Base in southern Nevada, scared him.
On his social media page, he wrote: “I am a long distance traveler. One day during one of my trips to Nellis Air Force Base, I discovered a hidden cave. The entrance to it was in the shape of an ideal letter M. When I approached it, my whole body began to vibrate. The closer I came to the entrance to the cave, the stronger I felt the vibrations. What was it? I can't explain yet."
Kenny decided that he would return to the cave, taking his camera and weapons with him. Before going on an expedition, he recorded a video about how he found a mysterious cave, and posted it on YouTube. But the desert is large, and there are no exact coordinates or landmarks on the video …
What happened next remains a mystery. For all we know, that cave Kenny has never been seen again since the sortie.
We can only speculate about what happened to him.
Was there something unusual hidden in the cave? Was the cave much larger than he expected? Perhaps he got lost, unable to find his way back to the surface?
The only thing we know is that the search team was formed from volunteers from the state of Nevada. A week after the disappearance of the man, they found Veech's mobile phone near an abandoned mine, but there was no trace of Kenny himself. By the way, the mysterious cave was never discovered by anyone.
