Speaking of those who were able to look into the future and predict it, people most often remember Vanga, Nostradamus and Messing. And even in Buryatia, not everyone knows that in the 19th century an amazing person was born in the Barguzin Valley - Tseden Soodoev, who can rightfully be called the Buryat "Nostradamus".

The life of Tseden Soodoev, who was known in the world under the name of Soodoi Lama, is so amazing that we certainly wanted to visit the place where the clairvoyant went to nirvana.

A small wooden house, where Lama Soodoy spent the last days of his life, is located on the border of the Barguzinsky and Kurumkansky districts, not far from the foot of the sacred mountain Barkhan-Uula, in the Kuytuny area. It was here, as the locals say, that at the beginning of the last century the great lama attained enlightenment and turned into a bright flash of light. Now the house of Soodoi Lama has become a local landmark, a three-meter suburgan is installed there.

Nadezhda Badmaeva, a local guide and connoisseur of Buryat customs, told us about some interesting facts from the life of Tseden Sodoev, who possessed clairvoyance and other amazing abilities.

- Soodoi Lama had the gift of seeing the future. At the beginning of the last century, he warned about the coming revolution and civil war, said that in the forties a terrible war would break out - “there will be a sea of blood, and many will not return,” says Nadezhda Feliksovna.

To avoid death, before going to the front, one had to bow in three holy places of the Barguzin Valley.

“Those who obeyed and did it came back, albeit with wounds. And those who neglected died, - said the guide.

Some of the predictions of the Buryat "Nostradamus" refer to a later period. For example, he predicted a man's flight into space ("in the year of the white mouse (1961) a white dragon will fly into the sky"), saw the construction of the BAM. In one of his prophecies it was said that "an iron snake will crawl through the mountains." A lot of predictions refer to the dashing 90s. Soodoi Lama warned that the time will come when there will be money, but you cannot buy anything with it. And then the shops will be bursting with goods, but people will have nothing to buy them."

- The very birth of Soodoi Lama was extraordinary. He was born to elderly parents. Before his birth, an unprecedented flower bloomed in the courtyard, which had never been in Barguzin. The parents invited a lama, who determined that it was a lotus. The astonished lama warned: a great man will be born in this yurt. And so it happened, - says Nadezhda Badmaeva. - Soodoi Lama not only saw the future, but could also pass through walls, take off and walk on water, stay dry in the rain. And he was a very simple person who was always ready to help with advice. He treated poor people with special trepidation, always staying only with them. And he always recommended to the rich to help the poor.

The fact that Soodoi Lama was a truly unique person, whose abilities were not doubted by the official authorities, confirms the fact that the prophet was invited to the coronation of Nicholas II.

- Soodoi Lama turned out to be the only person who guessed which door of the throne room the king would come out of, and turned his face there. Everyone else was looking at the other door. And yet, during the coronation, our lama was the only person who, because of his high status, was allowed to wear a headdress, - said Nadezhda Feliksovna.

Soodoi Lama traveled extensively. Was in Ceylon, Nepal, Bhutan, Burma, Japan, India. There, according to one of the legends, the Buryat lama even had to enter into a magical duel with an Indian yogi, from which Tseden Soodoev emerged victorious.

Before the October Revolution, Soodoy Lama, who returned to the Barguzin Valley, considered that he had attained enlightenment. In the spring of 1916, a 71-year-old lama performed a very rare Buddhist ceremony - "turning the body into a rainbow." According to legend, a bright flash of light preceded his departure to nirvana. The place of departure of Soodoilama became one of the Buddhist shrines of Barguzin.
