The oldest resident of Great Britain jokingly called the secret of longevity "every kind of avoidance of death." This is reported by the Daily Mail.

On Friday, March 29, Briton Bob Weighton celebrated his 111th birthday. The man celebrated the momentous date at a nursing home in Alton, Hampshire, surrounded by friends and acquaintances. “I experienced the fears inherent in everyone, flu, malaria, had two or three operations. I should have died long ago, but I can be said to be a fighter,”says the Briton.

The elderly man admitted that he does not like to be in the spotlight. Wayton prefers to meet new people and connect with those who "understand what it means to be human." He even asked Queen Elizabeth II not to send him a "soulless" greeting card. “I don’t understand why the state should pay for all these things, allegedly donated on behalf of the queen, it’s not personally from her,” the long-liver explained.

According to the Briton, over the course of his long life, the world has changed in order, but people, for the most part, have remained the same. Wayton also noted advances in vehicles that have made traveling across countries much easier. A man who has two sons, a daughter, ten grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren tries to live independently.

Wayton still prepares his own meals and walks to the grocery store using a senior walker that already has a new "Bob 111" sign on it. “Many of those in a bad mood smile at the sign. We start a conversation, - said the pensioner. "This is what I live for."
