China's largest freshwater lake, Poyang, is located in Jiangxi Province. This reservoir also has another name - "Chinese Bermuda Triangle" or "Bermuda Triangle of the East". So it is called because of anomalous events, which cannot be explained to this day.

The analogy between the Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean and the Chinese lake is the disappearance of people. The most anomalous area of Lake Poyan is located in its northern part. Over the past few decades, more than two hundred boats have sunk on the reservoir. In addition, more than two thousand people are missing. And the thirty, who were still lucky enough to be saved, have lost their minds.

Locals often fish in the lake. They go out into the water with caution, before that they carefully examine its surface. This is due to the fact that a strong storm can suddenly and quickly rise on the lake. In just a few minutes, a storm is formed, as a result of which there are often casualties.

In the spring of 1945, a Japanese cargo ship with two hundred sailors and treasures looted in China sailed along this anomalous part of the lake. Suddenly the boat stopped giving signals to land. A Japanese rescue team was equipped to rescue the crew. The first group of seven submariners went down under the water, but only one of them returned alive. He was scared to death, and after a while he went completely crazy. After the end of the war, another expedition consisting of American submariners was sent in search of the missing valuable artifacts stolen by the Japanese. But this operation was not crowned with success. And the leader of the divers told how a bright ray of light formed in the lake before his eyes, which with an unknown force carried the divers along. He miraculously managed to get out alive and in good health.

Not far from the anomalous part of Poyan Lake is the ancient Laoe Temple. But even he does not save this place from the numerous deaths occurring here. In 1977, a dam erected long before that sank almost silently near the Laoe temple. And in 1985, during one day, 13 boats of different sizes sank on the lake at once. At the same time, it was not possible to investigate the causes of these disappearances, and they could not find the bodies of the dead people at the bottom of the reservoir. The few who survived have lost their minds. Surprising is the fact that, despite the shallow depth, the wreckage of all the ships were also not found.

The Chinese themselves explain the tragedies that took place on the lake with a long-standing legend that once upon a time a terrible battle took place in this area. It was one of the largest lake battles in history. One of the parties involved in the war was displaced to the waters of the lake, but they did not have boats. When it became clear that it would not be possible to escape, a huge turtle appeared from the lake, which transported the soldiers on its back to the other side. The commander, who led this army, became the emperor, and in honor of the turtle-savior, he erected the Laoe temple. It is the spirit of that very turtle that lives in the lake and still keeps its secrets, many Chinese are sure.

An interesting fact is that Lake Poyan is located at the same latitude as the Egyptian Pyramids and the Bermuda Triangle. In this regard, scientists are trying to find a scientific explanation for the tragedies that have occurred. One of them is the presence of sandbanks in the northern waters, which may be the cause of sudden and powerful eddies. Perhaps the mystery of Lake Poyan will be solved only after it dries up and becomes shallow.
